Man I really appreciate the compliment. That guitar is an absolute machine for sure!
Thank you for letting us experience a guitar like this in such high quality Shawn. If I think on it too long I could cry that I’ll never own one.

Lol well Brad I sure appreciate you watching man. It’s always still fun to try one of these out, no matter how many of them you have tried, especially when it is one that is particularly exceptional and sound.
The Holy Grail...Holy smokes.. Sounds amazing as expected, and as does your playing. I love also these classic Martin, Jimmy Edmonds pairings (your next video). Makes me appreciate also how great Jimmy's guitars sound!

It is always a special kind of pleasure to play one of these old ones, especially considering there were only 61 of these made in 1936. Having said all of that, if anyone can make a modern guitar that has an old sound, Jimmy sure can do it. 😀
Ive listened to a bunch of Shawn here's vid of 30's Martin's but this one is damn nice; that bass is clear, and the trebles sing... son of a gun!

This one ranks up there with my all-time favorites from the 30s man. It has it all.
Amazing guitar Dale! Shawn, enjoy listening to you play like always!

@@ShawnBrockMusic it’s the best guitar I’ve ever played! I couldn’t be happier!
I rarely get covetous as my 7 acoustics are so fine....But..... Wow this one SOUNDS warm, blended, rosewood soul. Your playing might be the reason I am so into it as well! Happy Pluckin'!

I guess if anyone is going to be guilty of coveting, this would be the one to use for an excuse lol. I sure appreciate your kind words!
Hopefully this week it’ll be at my house!!
That's a peach.
Oh... I hear it Shawn. Killer axe.

It’s dangerous to have one of these around the house for too many consecutive days lol
Amazing guitar, and it's worth as a house.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!

Lol you can say that again.
I think the reason these vintage Martins sound the way they do is because they were built with very old growth timber. That's something that we just don't have anymore.

Very very true. I have played some modern guitars with 200 plus year old Adi, but that can’t be found anymore either.
That is a clean looking axe for that age. Wow. Nice Shawn. EE

@@ShawnBrockMusic Your just a youngster Shawn. Been a while since I saw 42, lol.
That '36 D-28 looks like it's near-on in Museum Condition? It's amazing how some owners can keep their instruments in immaculate shape, but were they players, all that time? Did that 28 see "The Road" like my 1971 D-28? Likely Not? But it's worth a Hell of a lot MORE than my 35 year younger brother. That '36 has Forward-shifted Scalloped Braces for a Standard D-28, unlike all the Post-war 28's. You're a lucky Dude, Shawn, just gettin' to play that '36, at least! Nice Pickin' too! Blessings mate!

Undoubtedly this one never saw the road life. In fact, the gentleman who owned it for so many years had one of those leather aprons he kept on it. It sure is a beautiful creature. Man I appreciate you watching, and hope you are having a blessed day.
that chocolatey, old growth brazillian...

Man that is really nice old stuff there. Oh yes, the days gone by. 😀
Well, after listening to that D-28 and the virtuoso demo by Sean, there's hardly much more out there to better it. I don't think any dreadnought guitar is going to trump this one for the traditional tone, and the playing really shows all it's nuances. Peak Martin tone.

Wow man! Thank you so very much, though I’m not sure that I deserve such a kind review, the guitar probably does, but not me. Man I really appreciate you taking the time to watch, and for such a kind comment.
What strings do you use?
