    The advantage of the brass padlock is that it is more corrosion-resistant than the steel version. It is available (by special order) with a stainless steel or brass shackle as well for even better corrosion resistance.

    I checked the price from a finnish lockshop website and a normal abloy doorlock with the classic key is about $150. The protec is somewhere around $250. So not the cheapest, but here in Finland it's abnormal if you don't have an abloy lock on your door.

    All the other abloy mechanism types need different type cores for that mechanism type. By the way, it is an abloy Exec core in the 341 cutaway. The Exec and the Protec are the only disc blocking technology cores that the disks are locked together by 2 steel bars until correct key is inserted so individual disks can't be manipulated.

    I have the same lock, I got mine as a set from "Swift Transport". And getting another key made is not possible unless you can get a lock smith to make one, well that's if you have the original. And if you lost both,...well...better plan on just getting another lock.

    Is it possible to screw open the core on my PL350? It seems like it is glued stuck, i tried with a pair of pliers in the small cutouts on the sides

    Surely that wouldnt be a problem since you need the key to lock it in the first place.

    Based on a quick look of about 20-30 models from one retailer they range from 100€ up to 300€ for the fancy looking ones, and considering the old Abloy Classics range between 80-200€ that's not too bad. Yeah, over here you'll hard pressed to find a door that doesn't have either a Classic or an Exec, and Execs are getting more commonplace all the time. Basically, new door = Exec. It always boggles me to see them called "safety locks" when they're the minimum level for anything over here. =)

    hmm Seems like tha abloy lock scene niid more fuel for the fire, I will be moving ti Finland this summer and I do have a few different version of abloy locks to show you guys. Abloy is a default still in finland. They made the best locks, so we use them. Why settle for less. I might be able to get a tour of a abloy factory, some day but I have so many other projects on the way, Someone should remind me! Just send me a message "Hey the abloy lock company tour" and I should be able remember this. :) They wont reveal the insides of the locks but hey we can open a lock up and see.

    I have a model 341 enforcer,where can i get it rekeyed,and what do you think the cost will be?

  • @masterpassword2
    @masterpassword211 жыл бұрын

    I suppose they're quite expensive because Abloy still has a valid patent for these locks. You cannot even purchase keys yourself because they have to be marked down officially. Also should one lose any one of his keys, the locks will be changed if you're living in a rented flat. The patent on this Exec locks will expire next month, so after that they will become cheaper because you can then freely create new keys and buy them pretty much from any key shop.

    I have an abloy door that has a lock with that kind of a basis, I don't need a key to lock it. It's got a simple twister thingie on the inside that opens it. we're talking about a door lock, not a padlock.

    Does anybody know of a reason to use a abloy 341 (CEN grade 3) which is brass body version instead of a abloy 340 (CEN grade 4) which is a hardened steel body version other than the price of the padlock? They are the same 10 mm boron shackle and both use same core design (brass holder for the locking disks). I would rather use a 340 and pay a few pounds more for the extra security. Have you tried opening the abloy 341 cutaway yet? If you need info how to remove the large screw where the

    If you need info how to remove the large screw where the key goes in, I will tell you how to remove it. It's easy once you learn how. I have 10 abloy padlocks and have switched the cores over on my 2x 340 protec padlocks with the cores of my 2x 342 profile closed shackle padlocks and converted my 350 classic to 350 profile just by taking the profile disks out of the 340/342 core and putting them in the 350 core. (All classic cores can receive profile disks to make them profile) All the othe

    ***** couldn't answer your 2 years old post anymore, the one you asked about prices of those locks in Finland. hard to say the exact price for any lock, but like this model (341, not sure which one of those is this since there's at least 4 different types of model 341) costs about 60-95€ ($65-$100), depending of the type.

    ron hubard to remove the large locking ring on the keyway you need to first open the lock lift the shackle up this gives you access through a small hole to a small locking screw that stops the ring from unscrewing, this is how my pl 340 is anyway.

    And I should point out that the prices are for door locks, not padlocks. Exec padlocks should be around 60€, compared to classics that even go down to 10€ for the cheapy, nasty plastic covered ones.
