This is one demonstration to incorporate an element of melodic voice while drumming.
A very simple way to incorporate melody is adding melody to the recitation of the drum strokes being played in the rhythm combination.
Melody is the best way for me to memorize and embody the rhythm patterns quite quickly especially
when combining more than one pattern.
Then once the pattern is embodied you can substitute
other vocal sounds in place of reciting the drum strokes.
If you can sing it, you can play it.

Hi Miranda! A beautiful demo and lovely singing! Shared with my daughter to share with her daughter who loves her remo drum and reportedly is delighted by videos of drummers.

Thank you for this demonstration... I find it hard to sing while frame drumming, at this point, but singing the vocalisations... dum, tek, etc... that does seem a good way to develop that.

The drum is gorgeous but so echo-y in that environment that it takes away from your beautiful voice. I can totally see the value in this method of learning the rhythms and in adding melodic voice. I can see myself then making up words to my own songs or perhaps making up drumming to songs I know. This is great. I'm sharing and liking.

couldn't sing well if a gun was put to my head but im ok at whistling, ive been trying your tips with whistling instead of singing while drumming and have had modest results.

That is wonderful that you chose whistling to add melody... never thought whistling as an option. Thank you for planting a seed.

@whoddaya drums like these are played all over the world. I think that this way of playing is middle eastern, but I'm not sure exactly though.

I do not know why, but "dhoom", "the" "ka" and all those sounds sound Indian (East India). As also the melody that you are singing. Of course, I am not saying it might be a derivative from there, but I hardly know the origins of this drum. Is it linked to India or the Eastern world in any way?
