Demian Maia is a living legend, amazing jiu-jitsu world champion and title challenger in two weight classes. He is so humble and kind, he literally said his goal is to “Submit my opponent without him hurting me or me hurting him.” That quote just shows how kindhearted he is, in such a brutal sport like MMA he wishes the least harm on his opponents. Casuals call his style boring but I always got hyped for Demian Maia fights!

What a great and humble role model of the sport. I was front row at UFC 118 and when Damien came out of the cage he threw his hat into the crowd. I pointed to his walk out shirt and he took it off and handed it to me! Always a fan!

One of my fav BJJ guy in MMA. I won my last amateur fight because of him too. I studied his clip on half guard in MMA and literally pull it off in the fight and won me the fight. I hope he knows he inspires a lot of people out there. What a legend !

Really appreciate this episode, Damian is a humble and true martial arts legend.

The sounds of the jungle on the intro makes me dream of waking up beachside in Thailand every time I hear it. It evokes an emotion and triggers a memory. Love it.

The most underrated MMA podcast on KZread. Mike invites the right guests, asks the right questions and gives them the right amount of time to answer. Unlike some other podcasters who can invite right guests and ask the right questions but never give the guest enough time to answer, well you already who he is. I’m a professional marketer and I kinda see few flaws in the way this podcast is promoted. Honestly the right promotion is the only thing missing here and that’s preventing it from getting the credit it deserves. I highly suggest Mike works with some technical/professional promoters to push the content to be seen by more people however I’m not suggesting myself 😃, I have a work which I’m happy with. I just want this podcast to get the attention and credit it deserves. 🥂

Demian Maia is the man....rolled with im for 90 seconds at Wanderlei's and it was like nothing I have ever experience...my bjj coach was Vitor Vianna who was the same way when I rolled with him....theyre good friends. Demian is a legend! Humble guy too....

Damien Maia is one of my favorite people ever and one of the nicest, most humble and respectful fighters that's ever been in the sport!!! I honestly cant think of any instance where someone had something bad to say about him...... with the exception of an opponent talking trash which doesnt count imo lol. Hes the original BJJ Goat and just an awesome guy, I loved every minute of this episode Quick!! Thanks for continuing to put out amazing content and im already looking forward to the next show

I like good fighter but I like great people more. Maia is great in both regards. Only been following MMA for about 3 years so perhaps I missed watching him in his prime but win or lose it's been a privelage.

Paul Craig is the BJJ guy I've been so impressed with lately. Of course Brian Ortega is amazing but unfortunately he was fighting the Terminator in Volk at 266! 99% of other fighters either tap or go out in that guillotine or that triangle. T-City may have lost but I'm still a huge fan, the kids got the heart of a champion

Mike: Tremendous show with excellent guests; Maia - the consummate professional & class act - serves as no exception. You remind me a bit of “Quinn” from Showtime’s Dexter (although I’m not exactly sure why). You have a much better body of course - granted, he has the sexier voice.
