Her vocal performance has improved (she has always been amazing, but now she's just wow), but there is a bit of a lack of emotion with her older songs than her newer ones. :/

Get Back- now (stronger and developed technique on mixing) Don't Forget- then (much more emotional) Skyscraper- then (more emotional) GYHAB- now (MUCH more better technique) / these vocals are amazing Heart Attack- now (resonance, belting...) Cool For The Summer- now (better technique, F5 belting and sustained eb5) Confident- now (better placement for both high notes (F#5 and G#5) and better sustaining in my opinion) conclusion: demi's vocals are much more powerful but you can realize that MANY TIMES she lost the emotion she used to have (not all the times at all! she is extremelly emotional when singing father sober and Cry Baby for example). i think that she may just feel tired of singing her old songs everytime and then she doesn' actually feel the emotion.

Shes also not in a place metally that she was when she made those older songs so the connection isnt as strong.

honestly, i think i prefer demi's old performances for multiple reasons, she used to give her ALL into every one. She had such an energetic stage presence, and so emotional, you could feel everything she was and i think a huge part of how nostalgic they are for me! i grew up listening to demi from the start of her career! so seeing fetus demi and the way she used to do her performances will always have my heart. Though she has become a KILLER vocalist! i love her performances now, its not as energetic and has calmed down. Her stage presence is still very much there and her emotion! i think she has to feel it to give it and if she's not, i don't want her to force whats not real. Thats why I've respected her and looked up to her for all these years. If she decides to make music again and tour, then maybe this energy will come back? you never know!

Don't forget from 2018 makes me cry.... Im so sorry for her. I know it will be same with Skyscraper from return after overdose 😯😯😭

1. Get Back - Then was better because she was a rockstar. 2. Don't Forget - Both were amazing. 3. Skyscraper - Then, cuz her tone more fit in that song. 4. Gyhab - Then and Now. Both awesome. 5. Heartattack - Now, cuz she sounded more light and not throaty. 6. CFTS - Then, cuz her stage presence was really sexy plus the vocal very on point. 7. Confident - Then, cuz I felt more power when she sang it. (Well I just knew it was a sex song). In conclusion, mostly I choose then because of her tone like an angel and that's how I can attract by Demi's voice.

I'm probably going to choose 'then' on most of these because ir was my favourite era of hers, but we'll see... Get Back = then, her old voice had that rock edge the song needs. Don't Forget = then, much more emotional. Skyscraper = then, emotion again. I think after a while Demi disconnects with her very old songs and so she doesn't feel the same emotion of singing them anymore. Give Your Heart a Break = now. I prefer her old tone but in technical terms 2018 is way better. Heart Attack = now. vocally better. Cool for the Summer = now Confident = now

I love how in Get Back, she can just support the notes/belting so much easier. She can just do it with such ease 😍

let’s go get back - now (better technique e etc, more powerful as well) don’t forget - then (look that emotion, but i prefer ‘now’ falsettos) Skyscraper - now (look that shining G5, fantastic) GYHAB - both one but i prefer now one look that F5! This is my opinion: Get Back - Tie (the riff was better in the now clip imo but overall, I liked both equally) Don't Forget - Now (Demi's upper register was much weaker in the Then clip than in the Now clip) Skyscraper - Then (i felt that Demi didn't struggle as much in the then clip and they were singing with more soul/emotion imo) Give Your Heart A Break - Now (I believe the Then clip is from the Intimate Performance in 2012... the whole performance was autotuned) Heart Attack - Now Cool For The Summer - Then (OMG THE GROWL) Confident - Then RESULT: Tie

In the recent "Confident" her vibrato made her go sharp on the word "underrated", so I prefer the older one in this case

I choice the Get Back from 2009, i mean, the technique is much better now, bet then she had something, like raspy voice, she lost that.

She has less presents on stage now.
