    We have some talented kids in my family. We can't go with greed or their dreams. We have to wait until they r full adults to get into that world. It's not normal. We don't party or do fun things, but that will be what they view as 'normal'.

    No one who is still alive anyway. Judy Garland is another one who had it really bad growing up in the spotlight. Unfortunately she died in 1969 but I feel like if she was still around today, she could've been a huge advocate for speaking for Hollywood childhood trauma. Shirley Temple is another one, Michael Jackson, so many people. Hollywood is such a toxic environment especially for young child stars.

    The whole "I pay the bills" thing never really occured to me when thinking about child stars. It really does change the dynamic and parents have to be wary of that and know how to handle it to still raise their kids the best way possible.

  • @hydrosphere8447

    @hydrosphere8447

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@cspan1993 I agree but I do wonder if I've been a little closed minded on that point previously. While I dont think children should have that responsibility and absolutely should not be exploited, if they come from a background that isn't priviledged enough to have 2 parents and stable finances, if you choose to support your child in their dreams at that age then the parent may well have to sacrifice their own job to be able to take the child everywhere they need and supervise etc. Obviously, using their earnings is very unideal but if they have sacrifice other sources of income to support them then the line gets a little blurred regarding the child's earnings paying the bare minimum needed to continue supporting them/siblings only. But the child would absolutely need to understand the situation and make that choice themselves. There's obviously the bigger question prompted of should parents as the responsible guidance (in theory) allow their children into child stardom when we've seen how damaging it is but disregarding that question for now - is it too priviledged to assume that parents should be able to still finance their lives, if they have to give up their own full time jobs to support their children..? If its unacceptable as a blanket rule then its yet another difference that makes it even harder to be successful if not from a wealthy family... I think its perhaps not as simple as we'd like it to be.

    Drew is such a beautiful soul. It is so amazing how she can speak about this subject having experienced it all, so she can share her experiences yet she still keep the focus on Demi to not take away from her own experiences. Someone said a round table with child stars would be amazing and I agree. I love if they could do it in private because it would be very therapeutic for them too to be in a safe space where they can share their struggles.

    I think people forget how resilient and tough Drew has been since she was a superstar as a 6 yr old child. She simultaneously battled personall troubles with her family, individual health struggles,and essentially having to start over as an actress in her late teens. She's obviously super talented but it's her fighting spirit I find extremely admirable and respect greatly. She's also never been an egotistical or arrogant person and her honesty shines when she interviews other people. She should be extremely proud of herself and I find it super easy to root for her continued success and happiness.
