I noticed my husband had forgotten how to sit in the dining room chair. He would stand beside it for minutes before sitting down. Then I watched him at the toilet where he had no problems sitting and realized he needed to go the same direction. So I shared with him what I observed and he tried it with success. He still stands by the dining chair awhile before sitting down, but he can do it on his own.

I've noticed alot of change this last year. She doesn't notice things at her feet. Stamina is much less. Ability to handle crowds, stores, change in environment is getting alot more over whelming.

At 89, my mother has yet to be evaluated by her Doctor for the obvious signs she is experiencing cognitive decline. The challenges she has with decreasing mobility and mental acuity have been excused as part of aging rather than acknowledging the stark difference to her daily routines and abilities. She is scheduled for a Zoom session this coming March with the Heersink School of Medicine (UAB) which may finally offer a determination that she is on the path of mild cognitive decline or further along into dementia. From my personal viewpoint she seems to be exhibiting the former yet despite my entreaties to address her balance issues (via the one legged stand) and progress toward establishing a pattern of exercise she depends on the judgement and recommendation of her Doctor. At one point I felt that a combination of the medications she was taking were exacerbating her fogginess and unsteadiness but as she has thankfully weaned off of those she still displays these inabilities to comprehend and ambulate. A recurring habit of password changes with her online interactions predates the more pronounced slowdown she presents currently. My brother who has a closer relationship shouldered the burden of assisting with this as well as alarmingly frequent cancellations of her credit cards when she felt they might have been compromised. As I've become more involved with some of these issues I've been disheartened that he seems to share the Doctor's reluctance to persuade her to more aggressively confront these struggles. From what I've gleaned, exercise and social engagement are the most positive steps she can make to slow the progression of what she faces. The comment section of a year old video posted on this platform is undoubtedly a poor place for advice or consolation but sometimes it's cathartic to vent.

I noticed my mother a very hard time lifting packages, opening anything, getting in the car in a g out is extremely hard and she shuffling walking and holding on to the wall . She’s in such denial and she’s a risk now her eye doctor says she has cataract so she blames it on that now but that wouldn’t happen having trouble getting up and down and extreme incontence. No Doctor it’s so ironic mentions dementia. She’s 76 and the decline has been the last 10 years and to me she’s a risk . My neighbors see it but no Doctor does

My girlfriend whos now in assistant living. Has dementia. She can no longer walk. And she used to be a great dancer. But I thought this video was about people with dementia, not potential if they have dementia. Every human being on earth knows about moving and not moving. That the brain controls that. I thought I would hear advice,About the people who have it, and can’t walk. Not if you might think you have it. It was a lot of talk around stuff that I was hearing from you.
