Dementia-friendly golf - Terry’s story

Terry is a golfer. He is also 57 years old and was diagnosed with early onset dementia in 2014. He keeps enjoying his golf with the support of his friends, and in particular his best friend, Dave. They make sure to get out on the course a couple of times a week at St Ives (Hunts) Golf Club in Cambridgeshire, where they are members. With small adaptations and additional support from his friends and the club Terry can keep playing golf and be an active part of his community.
Alzheimer’s Society are working with England Golf and Sport England to ensure more golfers and golf clubs can adapt and support people living with dementia to continue enjoying golf. To find out more please visit www.alzheimers.org.uk/sport or www.englandgolf.org/dementia
