I don’t speak any East-Asian languages, so I’ll try to give you an idea of how I look at them as someone who only knows the Latin alphabet and a bit of Cyrillic. There a few ways I tell apart scripts of Japan, Korea and China. As to me they all seem quite complex shapes. Chinese script looks very boxy. Korean script seems to contain a lot of circles in its script that aren’t seen in Chinese. I have a little more knowledge of Japanese from school. Kanji is identical to Chinese script. Hiragana is relatively simple and quite distinctive. Katakana is hard to tell apart from hiragana but seems to feature straighter lines than hiragana.

*The advertisement was ordered by the Dutch insurance company Delta Lloyd Group from the TBWA\NEBOKO advertising agency, also based in the Netherlands. The commercial was shown in June 2001.* I don't have any information about the actors and the shooting location, but if I had to guess, the film was shot in Taiwan. Why? The answer is simple. First of all, the characters speak Chinese (at least for those who already recognize the Korean language by hearing, this language will be unfamiliar to them - however, the Chinese commentators below the video also confirmed this) moreover in this scene 0:20, you can clearly see Chinese fonts in the background - I know that the Hanja script exists, which is a transcription of the Korean language using Chinese fonts, but I think it is impossible that a country that rejects all foreign influence from the outset would be able to keep the Chinese or other foreign writings next to the Hangul script (except of latin fonts) - if the makers had been aware of this, they would have used "fake Hangul fonts" here as well, but this way the Chinese - including Taiwanese - analogy becomes clear because of Chinese fonts. The "Parade" itself just a 3D animation. But the city background is real in my opinion, not just "animation". The question arises as to whether the Communist Chinese leadership (People's Republic of China - PRC) would have given permission to a foreign film crew in their country (including Hong Kong and Macau) to make a film that openly parodies their own allied country, North Korea - including their communist system thereby embarrassing the Chinese communist leadership too? It is clear that this step would have been a serious insult on the part of the Chinese for themselves and for as the "friendly relationship" between the two countries is concerned. However, since Taiwan (Republic of China - ROC) has an openly hostile relationship with communist China - and they do not have direct friendly relations with China's allies either, they probably were nod to the making of the film without remorse. *Another interesting addition:* The "fake Korean text" in the movie is probably written in non-real Hangul characters on purpose - to avoid overt associations. The "Great Leader" also resembles both Kim Jong Il and Kim Il Sung. (Although it is clear that North Korea is being parodied, even for those who have only heard about the country from the news.) However, there is another interesting thing here. The "female voice" that can be heard when the "Great Leader" appears. Anyone who has ever seen the North Korean news or any of their propaganda films will immediately recognize this distinctive female voice. She is none other than North Korea's number one news presenter, whose name is *Ri Chun-hee.* The text we hear in the film was played backwards. Anyone who knows Korean and reverses it with the "Online Reverse Video tool" will notice it immediately. (I don't know Korean, I only understood the word "Pyongyang" from the video.) _Of course, the above statements about the circumstances of the film shooting are not concrete facts, only theory. But thanks to this, people who have more insight and more information will also react to it, and this will be presented to the public in the form of comments what everyone can be read below._

Because reality if often sccarier then fiction.

It's obviously happened in North Korea, but the actors are speaking Chinese... it's definitely weird but the description of North Korean civil life is quite authentic.

As a Chinese I know why. It's HongKong-made clip(obviously before 2019 when HK is no longer free),so actors speak Chinese yet make fun of North Korea

@@AlternativeLoffen They have air conditioners in DPRK. Factory workers often have access to AC at work (office workers not so much), and home AC exists as well. When COVID started, DPRK had news broadcasts warning the population that the AC doesn't filter airborne pathogens and they should not rely on it to stop COVID. If AC is widespread enough that the government mentions it in their COVID PSAs meant for the general public as the audience, it's gotta be at least not unheardof.
Honestly, I thought this was a clip from an actual movie about a north Korean guy. As in him trying his best but failing, then seeing that guy in the window as inspiration, and proving the officer wrong. Idk I think it would be a good plot, a view on some ordinary guys life in North Korea
