Excellent video; thanks for sharing. I've flown in and out of SLC countless times and there are times when the weather can make it harrowing, just like your experience here. Hugging the Oquirrh mountains before the 180 to line up landing to the north seems to always be adventurous!

Just up those canyons I fly fish for big brown trout- Provo river. And up by Logan.

Many, many moons ago my father and I went through a lightning and thunder storm coming home from, Chicago after my grandma's funeral. We flew in a, DC-8. I thought it was cool and fun, my dad was the exact opposite. I was, 7, 1968.

Yes, they are. I think the body of the plane is built to shield lightning strikes off so the electrical systems of the plane are not damaged. Thanks for watching!

It doesn't prevent strikes but the aircraft fuselage acts like a faraday cage and any lightning that hits it is safely discharged without any harm to electrical parts and passengers. I suggest looking up Mentour Pilot on KZread. He being an airline pilot has videos on pretty much anything to do with flying.

No go around, no aborted landing, and no lighting striking the wing. Even the captain announcemet confirm the first 2 points.The third one, is easy to observe. Turbulence, yes. 😡😡😡👎👎👎
