Delta 837: A330-300 - ATL-HNL

Комедия

Friday, 2/12/2016 - A journey of unprecedented magnitude beginnith! Having never traveled farther west than California, I head deep into the uncharted waters of a vast & boring Pacific Ocean. . . Destination: Paradise! But a 9+ hour flight stood in between Atlanta, Myself & Hawaii. Some say the journey is it's own reward. Others sedate themselves w/tranquilizers & booze, skipping the journey entirely. What did I do, you might ask? Well stay tuned & find out next!

    Matt, the "obstructions" at 6:00 are glideslope antennas that transmit radio signals for the descent component of an ILS. Note: Go-arounds may be fun for you but not for airlines. One go-around can completely erase the profit on a leg. Nice views, especially around Hawaii. First time I really looked at how beautifully built the A330 wing is.

    Too bad they didn't do a static take-off (holding the brakes while engines spool up to Flex/TOGA). It seems AirTran loved doing that, and would sometimes do it upon passenger request, even on 9L/27R which is the longest runway.

Once I got the tail number, I searched the history of the tail # this was the second delivery 242T A330 but it was the prototype and main basis/drawing board for the A330-900Neo! universal_aviation_ it goes back to 1-1-1995 and when you plug in dates and airports, it gives you a list of flights between those airports, what airline, the official flight depart/arrive times from the FAA and also the N Number or tail number of the plane that flew the flight. There IS a paid version ($1.99-$2.99/month plus other airline booking and award locators etc) that allows lookup of international flights, however I was told by the website creator that the database is very loose for international stuff and may not work for some flights you may want it to.

    Couple of notes, great video Matt! It was a little shaky on Zoom, I'm getting used to your commentary (may I suggest you let the engines do the talking during JUST the takeoff? please!) the PW (was it PW?) engines at cruise sound about as quiet as the Rollers! I'm flying a 764 in first from EWR-HNL and back this year, but I'm hoping UA will turn it to a 787. I'd much rather an A330 or an A350 but c'est la vie. Looking forward to more trip report videos. Even if it's like Howard stern sometimes: "I just want to see what he says next"

    You're bitching about filling out a little form when you're about to land in paradise? Get a grip, man! 😂😂😂👍 That shot of Molokai when you were coming in was stunning. I'm going to be looking at that view from my oceanfront condo in Napili, Maui come March, Can't wait. Thanks for the video -- it's the same flight I'm taking & trying Delta One for the first time.

    I'm new to your vids but do you talk constantly because you can't help it or because you think we wanna hear it?

  • @mlcochran78

    @mlcochran78

    8 жыл бұрын

    +superskullmaster That's a good question. I'll assume your tone is one of genuine curiosity & answer it that way. I talk/narrate/comment/rant in my vids because I have a LOT of fun doing it. Although it may appear I'm speaking "constantly", it is not the case. I can most certainly help it & I'm quiet the majority of the time when shooting these. But the magic of video editing allows me to cut out those boring silent parts. So my narration is strictly for my own amusement. Because I think I'm funny. It's basically my own internal dialogue verbalized in stream of consciousness style. In doing this over the last 3-4 years my on-air persona is almost like a character I've created. It's a wonderful stress outlet. But when it comes to "thinking you wanna hear it", the thought never crosses my mind. There's a shit ton of planespotting videos out there w/ambient noise & engine sounds only. So those that don't want to hear it have a lot of other options. There is a segment of our beloved aviation-zealot community that enjoys my diatribes & tangents, however. It's extremely flattering. So if I'm not talking for my own amusement, I'm speaking on their behalf. Thanks for watching! Hopefully you'll come to understand the method to my madness. If not, you got a whole KZread machine full of other options.
