Just a quick note - as I have the 5400 - if you hit the “clean” button on the front of the Philips, it will rinse out the milk frother so you can put it back in the fridge

I have the delonghi, and let me tell you in it’s first 3 months, it’s probably done around 720 double espressos! Yes I know I drink way too much coffee but I work from home 😂 it’s only thrown the de-scaler light once, and the filter twice. Obviously continuous tray empty lights with that use. But it’s been genuinely great! For the price point, and a touch of a button I don’t have any complaints. Choose your beans, stick them in. 👌🏻

In most of the new automatic machine reviews I've seen the quality of the americano and size of the result output is never described. I've had a Jura E8 for the last 12 years and my normal drink is a 12-16 oz americano in a standard coffee mug (4"-5" height) with nice crema. A desireable additional feature to be able to produce the milk drinks automatically when desired. Are any of the current automatic machines priced $1000 US or less able to do this?

Thanx. Do you have comparison on Philips 1200 vs Delonghi - Magnifica Evo Bean to Cup Coffee Machine - ECAM290.21.B. ? I had a Delonghi for 7 years and after 25000 (yes!) cups the brewer packed up - very good value. But I am considering the Philips, now. Philips wasn't available back when I bought the Delonghi. I don't need the milksystem - only drink americano.

I have the delonghi and would summareise it as: terrific coffee, terrible milk. As my second foray into superautos after having owned a Lelit Elizabveth V3 during the pandemic, I'm not sure I'd go with the Evo again as the milk system on the Evo is inferior to the Eletta model I used to have before my semi autp. The Eleta produced really creamy, cafe quality milk but the Evo froths the heck out of it and even burns it. Think 80s Italian cap with almost no flavour. This was particularly noticeable after coming from a manual wand on a proper espresso machine where I learned the right temp and texture. I was open to some compropmise but the Evo's milk system is simnply not enjoyable. Fortunately I'm mainly an espresso or long coffee drinker and this machine does a great job at both. The only other advice I would giv buyers of this category is that all superautos are made of plastic and therefore cant get quite as hot as traditional semi automatic machines. If you use any beans roasted medium ligfht or above in terms of roast development you may end up with a sour coffee no matter what. The big, expensive machines made of metal actually get hot to touch and that aids thermal stability and the extraction of flavours. Also, users tend to have very sophisticated grinders that would cost as much if not more than these super autos here. People roasting coffee fall into this catgeory, and so it's important to look beyond the label and ask your roaster upfront what theyd recommend for a home superauto machine. Coffee selection is key - you want something fresh but that the roaster has labelled 'for home use' as that is normally a sign the roast is more developed and therefore more able to be easily extracted/brewed by at-home equipment. If you really want lighter roasts, fret not - just grab an affordable Aeropress and hand grinder combo in addition to your superauto and you won't miss a thing. It's that simple that I am kicking myself for having previously gone down the expensive semi auto 'rabbit hole'. I'd love to try the Phillips for comparison's sake. I'm already wondering which brand I'd buy next - again, nothing bad with the Delonghi's coffee, just not impressed with the newer milk system on this model.

I've had a couple of coffee makers. ..I don't want to spend all that money.. Now I have an automatic machine, which delays good coffee..
