    Hi Michael - as you can see this is my second comment - please tell the Dell team, that I want 8K (280PPI) that you've stopped production in 2019. I want this also bright and glossy. A revision 2 with this camera + soundbar too, and last but not least ... 1/2 the previous one price. I am serious, number of people with 2xDisplayPorts in PC is growing, I really am still obsessed with OLED that I own (3840x2400 on 16"=> 280 ppi) and LG C1, and iMacs 27" 5K glossy. Bring back 8K!

    I fell upon this video because I'm in the market for a new monitor. This monitor ticks all the right boxes in terms of specs (32", IPS black, Thunderbolt connections, KVM hub, 6K, 223 PPI etc.). But what an eye sore of a design with that monstrosity of a camera and top bezel. If Dell could've designed it like the U3223QE and had an option for a clip on design for a camera, like the Samsung M8 or S9, it would've been a definite winner. Everything else on this video is spot on.

    Thank you for this nice review again! I was wondering if 100% scaling would be workable on this beast. Did you try during your test period? ;o) I'm currently on 1 U4320Q and 2 U2412M (in portrait on the left and right side of the big 4K) and really like to make use of every pixel with only "Office app usage" (yes of course... 100% for the legacy apps) The monitors I use do not really spec compare with this U3224KB. but just want to have as much "real pixel usage".

    @soeyken Thank you! I did play around with 100% scaling, but I have to say it was extremely hard to find the mouse curse on the screen. A fix for that is to increase the size of your curser.

    It used to be that the UP displays were a more accurate color and it able to self calibrate. The U series displays with IPS Black are getting close to the UP series (in some cases surpassing them). You can calibrate the U series with software. Here is a link to the Dell PremierColor software. www.dell.com/support/contents/en-us/article/product-support/self-support-knowledgebase/software-and-downloads/dell-premiercolor

    good review, great presentation, but the sound is so bad. otherwhise very well done. a cheap lavelier mic for 10 bucks could help a lot, record to a phone and sync up sound and video afterwards (e.g. by clapping in the beginning) Very excited about IPS black, hoping for some more FLAT(!) ultrawide monitors, where they make use of that even better viewing angle.

    I can confirm - after 6 months with 2723QE IPS Black - 27" 4K screen. I am just wondering WHEN dell will make versions with glossy finish (just to reach those 1:2500 contrast?). I would want one. Michael - can I use wallpaper-knife to remove this film in front of panel ... cos, I am willing to do that man! As soon as I bought iMAC with 27" 5K screen and near 400nit brightness, I cannot go back. Sorry, now I am leaning towards super expensive OLED 32" from ASUS.

    Michael, PC mag reviewed this monitor and I was surprised to stumble upon following sentence: "Dell U3224KB has a rated 2,000:1 contrast ratio, but could only muster 1,521:1 in our testing". Can you comment on that? It's not that I'm wishing to find out something bad about this model, quite the contrary, I wish it to be as good in terms of contrast as my current 4K dell monitor with IPS Black.

  • @qw1626

    @qw1626

    3 ай бұрын

    I don't believe there is a standard way of measuring contrast ratios so it is literally down to the way the manufacturer measured the constrast ratio, it isnt a super scientific metric just manufacturer marketting terminology. for instance some monitors state a 1 million to 1 contrast ratio on their scale but might have worse performance in many circumstances since they would be using techniques such as local dimming to present a darker image while still being under the same overall restrictions of the base technology

    When you can pick up a 32" 120hz IPS-Black with a PPI over 300 and built in native BFI or other strobing tech under 500 pounds, then you will have something that is really special and not even OLED can compete with on a pound for pound basis, IPS-Black has the potential to be the main budget alternative to OLED, but it also needs the PPI and motion resolution to give it enough of an edge to compete, as it is, it does have the ability to have a static image on screen for a much longer amount of time, so IPS-Black has the static image advantage over OLED, so better for web browsing, photoshop etcetera, if they could get the PPI over the 300 line, which really helps with a huge amount of things (consistency/uniformity/text-clarity/etcetera), and give it decent motion resolution with 120hz-ULMB/BFI/strobing/etc, then those would sell like hotcakes.
