When I connect this all up it appears to trip the ac adapter circuit breaker? as it shuts down. (I tried more than one working adapter, same results). When I take the power input board from the mobo off it does not do that and I get the 19v on the jack. So the mobo is shorting the power out. Is there a component I need to test that may be causing this or is it likely a more major failure?

Your laptop motherboard 19V line short to GND, so you need to inject voltage from external power supply that should be 5amp, then you can find out which parts short.

What if you get 3.3v and 5.1v on those two capacitors? I checked similarly like you checked, what I noticed is that there are two 2.5v capacitor and getting a reading of 0.

Hi sir.. I have similar problem on dell N 5110. I check power jack voltage it shows 19.5 volts and after that I checked voltage at the same resistor as u told, I found voltage continuously dropping from 19.5 volts to 1 volts. Please tell me why this happen and what should I do now.

Laptop is powering on through battery. But not powering on through power cable without battery. I checked all voltages as you told with the battery out and power cable plugged. All voltages are correct. Capacitors also gave correct reading. What could be the problem?

Hi bro, Does this power board (dq15dn15) generate 19v voltage when not connected to the mainboard? Hi, I have Inspiron N5010 and it got dead during BIOS update from A12 to A15. No power LED nothing just dead. Where to look for the problem BIOS or Power supply? Laptop is dead and no LED or Power button response after plugged in. Adaptor is working. Any help appretiated.

Excellent video and your knowledge is impressive. I have a problem with an N5110 that I've not seen before and wondered if you could help. Power button, tested as working, (tried a couple of them) will not turn on the laptop If I unplug the power button ribbon from the mainboard and remove and replace the cmos battery when I plug in the mains charger the laptop will boot and run fine. If I remove the charger to power the laptop off and then replace the power button ribbon cable once again the laptop will not longer start. I have to repeat the procedure and remove the power button again from the laptop, remove and replace the cmos battery and plug in the mains charger without the power button attached for it to boot. There is no visible damage to the pins of the power connector on the board so I'm at a loss. Any help would be welcome and appreciated.

Sir How do you be sure!!..i have a 9104p , 19v is ok ,no 3valw/5valw , no short to ground in the rail of 19v and the rail of 3/5 valw...change the Ic ( RT8205LZQW) with a sure one who works perfect at other motherboard same problem ! i think that all the V is Ok on this IC ,entrip 1 and 2 = 1.2 and 1.3 v....vreg 3 = 3.3v and vreg 5 = 4.5 v! ...Vin =19 v...en = 3v....i take this result with multimeter on OHM mode for the 2 solid capacitor after the coil , rail 3v = 122 ohm , rail 5v = 82 ohm....sir waht else to chek!!..thx
