Just some info for non-Italians: -Polenta taragna is a type of polenta, they obviously mixed it with Ragnarok because Vikings are cool -Giorgio Mastrota is a famous TV host who mostly sells stuff. Nanowar also dedicated a whole song to him some years ago, thanks to which they did a few things together (for example, he sang his own song live with them). He's not a singer at all anyway -At the beginning, when they talk about polenta, it's a parody of Linea Verde, a TV program about typical food around Italy. Here it is called Valtellinea, which is a pun mixing on Linea Verde and Valtellina, a valley in Northern Italy where polenta taragna is a traditional dish. -Valtellina is also mentioned in the chorus as Valhaltellina, an obvious reference to Valhalla -Volcano of Trepalle: Trepalle is a town on the Alps and it's also at the highest altitude in al Europe. Its name is kinda funny in Italian, as it literally means ThreeBalls -South Tyrol is a region in Northern Italy, while Sondrio is a city in Lombardy -When they say "the abuse might cause the pellagra disease" it's actually true. On the other hand, the part about viagra it's not, sorry about that -Como Drake: in Italian it's "Drago di Como", which is a pun on Lago di Como (Como Lake) -When Giorgio Mastrota says "Mr. President? Mr. President?" to Gandalf, it's a reference to an iconic Italian TV moment in which politician Giulio Andreotti had an ischemia and could not answer the host's question, who unsuccessfully tried to call him a few times before realizing what was happening -Mid-Garda Lake: a pun on Lake Garda and Midgard -Cedrata Tassoni is a cedar beverage which used to be vary famous, which recently became even more famous thanks to vaporwave and memes. Yeah, seriously. -When Giorgio Mastrota says "F#ck it's very good", he says it in Brescia (another city in Lombardy) dialect -The falsetto parts are a reference to a famous Italian pop song, "Su Di Noi" by Pupo. "Su di noi nemmeno una nuvola" (above us not even a cloud) here became "su di lei ci metto la provola" (on her I put Provola cheese) Hope I didn't forget anything 😀

To be specific polenta does not cause the pellagra disease, but, since it was a very simple dish (only water and corn flour, polenta taragna has cheese added to this mix) it was very common for poor people or farmers to eat polenta 6 days out of 7 if not every day. The lack of meat and fish caused lack in some vitamins which led to this particular disease. And to be fair, when you eat it on a winter sunday, with some veggies and meat, or in a mountain refuge after a good hike on the alps, it kinda gives you the effect of Viagra

Polenta taragna is a traditional dish of northern Italy, made of polenta, butter and melted cheese. It's a heavy and nordic dish... Pretty much like this song, actually. Giorgio Mastrota is the king of italian TV sellers, an icon of trash TV. Nanowar wrote a funny song about him in the past and Mastrota was so proud about the song that they decided to bring him back in this song that starts with Mastrota himself selling Polenta in one of his TV shows. He's actually singing in the song, so kudos to him for this great performance :)

The Norsemen from whom the Vikings derive were not the only Odinist group, all the Germanic peoples had the same religion. He remembers that the Valtellina is in Lombardy, which means land of the Lombards. Origo gentis Langobardorum and taken up by Paolo Diacono in his Historia Langobardorum, he writes that the Lombards were originally called Winnili and lived in Scania (one of the traditional provinces of Sweden). Under the guidance of the brothers Ibor and Aio, sons of Gambara, they migrated southwards, on the southern shores of the Baltic Sea, and settled in the region called "Scoringa". Legend has it that the leaders of the Vandals begged Odin to grant them the victory, but the supreme god said that he would decree success to the people who, on the morning of the battle, he would see first. Gambara and his children instead resorted to Odin's wife, Frigg, who gave them the advice to show up on the battlefield at sunrise: men and women together, these with hair down to the chin as if they were beards. As the sun rose Frigg caused Odin to turn to the Winnili's side and the god, when he saw them, asked, "Who are those with the long beards?" To which the goddess replied: "Since you have given them a name, you also give them victory."

the valtellina valley is located in the region called Lombardy which historically takes its name from the people of the Lombards. the Lombards are called this in honor of Odin (Langbard is one of his names) so we are Vikings at heart! 😜😅

Best reaction ever! Only one suggestion: Do not drink water after polenta or the mix will become heavy in the stomach: you might feel like if you need to digest some sort of reinforced-concrete. Did you react also to "Der Fluch des Kapt’n Iglo" (German with english subs?)? Have a nice day!

Definitely this is an Italian album. It is full of Italian cultural and musical references, jokes, regional and age stereotypes that make translation very complicated. But as an Italian I feel I can say thank you for remembering that every cultural environment has its merits. For the rest, since there is a song about my region, Sardinia, the song is L'Assedio di Porto Cervo. Sardinia is a region famous for a wonderful sea and for extremely expensive areas, suites in extreme luxury hotels can cost 35k dollars a night and in the song at one point a voice with a typical Sardinian accent says something like "Billionaire, your yacht, stick it to my cock, you are just a vain whoremonger".

Maybe you should know that before the Roman expansion most parts of Northern Italy were inhabited by celtic tribes. Many archeological remains of celtic settlements have been found (often beneath old churches). If you have time and are interested you can read some more information on Wikipedia. So.. Scottish and Irish people have "Italian" origins... 😁 It is true. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cisalpine_Gaul
