Great presentation. The amount of laws broken by PO Ltd and Fujitsu both directly and indirectly is astounding. Yet no one's been charged, beyond bent.

Given the importance that the Japanese as a nation attach to personal honour I wonder what the leaders of Fujitsu in Japan are thinking?

Actually Corporate Japan has proven to be just as capable of dishonourable and shameless misdeeds as any Western corporation. Right now Fujitsu Global's CEO who is in Japan is trying to outrun the PR disaster. His only concern is to protect the Fujitsu UK subsidiary from collapse by the possible elimination of its British government contracts.

Pretty sure they work through a wholy own subsidiary any time they do business outside Japan. So they probably just dismiss it as the behaviour of a rebel "outpost". Still does make the entire company look awful and there really should be accountability for the ordeal those postmaster sent through!

Well... stop watching documentaries and live in japan for years. You then realize how wrong you are. On Fujitsu topic. They have own sw scandals in Japan too.

_"Against shamelessness outrage is impotent"_ - Richard Powers. Justice Richard Havery KC "I found Mrs. Chambers to be a clear, knowledgeable and _reliable_ witness...". Or did you just believe her because it simplified things for you? This is indeed an afront to the public conscience and does disgrace the judiciary and the Kings Council Solicitors involved. Presumably they're stepping down? No? Oh, so the afront continues.

I blame the judges most. It's not supposed to be their job to rubber stamp prosecution statements and toss people in prison.

Great explanation. Perjury and perverting the course of justice charges need to follow.

Just seen this after watching the Mr Bates vs post office drama. The sheet showing around 5 prosecutions a year before and 50 a year after horizon, really was there no one who could do basic math, statistics or common sense to see that was odd.

The investigation team (not sure of the extent) were apparently getting bonuses per conviction and on money "recovered". The money recovered was also a significant part of PO profits, I guess £100M-£400M in total. So the execs got bonuses off of it too. So a common sense extortion racket. 🙂 A multi hundred million pound, government owned and funded, lawyered up, auditor invisible, justice blind, extortion racket.

Meanwhile, the Fujitsu produced NHS patient system was so bad that it was abandoned. Then Fujitsu sued the Government and walked away with nearly £700m.

Good presentation, slightly let down by unnecessary swearing given the seriousness of the subject (and as someone who swears too much myself)
