You'll see the entire United Airlines International Polaris Business Class experience onboard a Boeing 757-200 in United Airlines’ International Business Class from Newark to Bergen, Norway!
Unfortunately, our plans were changed because of a delay -- thankfully we didn't have a flight cancellation -- but we still had to adapt. We’ll share exactly what happened and how we stayed on top of it as well as what you can do to maintain your composure when facing a similar challenge
You’ll see everything the airline has to offer on one of their premium international routes from Newark, one of their main hub airports.
This video highlights everything from the United Airlines Business Class experience! You’ll see the incredible Polaris Lounge you can access with an international Polaris Business Class ticket on United Airlines.
You’ll even see everything onboard from the impressive United catering not to mention two of their oldest United Polaris Business Class Seats. You’ll even see the inflight entertainment from United and so much more.

I’m primarily a Delta flyer but one thing I admire about United is their explanations for delays; both on the app and from the gate agent. Knowing why a flight is delayed gives me piece of mind and makes the travel experience more tolerable. Transparency can go a long way to helping all passengers! I really hope Ed Bastian implements this on Delta soon.

I'm not defending Delta or United but I can give you some inside perspective... the reasons for delays are complex. It's usually some form of Reason 1A --> Reason 2A + Reason 2B ---> Reason 3A + Reason 1A ---> Reason 4A + Reason 1A. You could create a big branch diagram. There's two problems: A) how do you track each of these reasons? B) how do you decide what to tell the passengers? Every airline has this exact same problem.

You are falling for the trap! UA give you a reason, but it's not always the same reason or right reason. Having dealt with IROPs on both, DL still does a better job at handling disruptions... especially for frequent flyers. Knowing a reason doesn't really help! The airlines are keeping their birds in the air almost at all times, so UA could claim "weather"... if it happened several flights ago and caused a cascaded delay. Given the birds are always in the air, you can technically claim "weather" for any delays as you can always trace back and find a mission that was impacted by weather. What we need in the US is consumer protection laws like EU to stop all the non-sense of made up excuses just to get out of compensating passengers.

@@_w_w_ Somethings that cause delays shouldn’t be released to the public. At least not on the spot, unless the hire ups of the airline say so. Not all passengers understand the inner workings of the airline industry, so they’ll wave off any explanation as meaningless.

I had an experience with a delay just last Saturday. I was trying to get to BOS from SLC, connecting through AUS. The AUS flight out of SLC was delayed due to a pilot shortage. This was going to cause us to miss our connecting flight. Luckily, our amazing gate agent was able to rebook us on a direct flight to BOS leaving only a few hours later. We had no issues getting seats together for 3 of us, due to a second amazing gate agent. I should note, this was on Delta; they have caught a lot of negative publicity lately. However, I am a returning customer of theirs, and will absolutely continue to be after this experience. 5 stars!

Hi Jeb, great video as always. I work at the Frankfurt Airport and trust me, as a employee it is such a hard time for us as well. I always understand the passengers which are frustrated, but sadly some of them are the ones, who start to attack the staff verbally and even sometimes physically. The mistake is by a insane misleading managment the last 2 years. It is urgent that some guys in the managment get fired. But instead they hide and the normal staff gets confronted with the mess from day to day.

We had a flight from Chicago midway to Norfolk that was scheduled for 9: 45 but was first delayed by baggage from a connecting flight. We began to push back but then it suddenly stopped. The tug apparently broke a pin or something on the landing gear while pushing back so we had to wait some more. An inspector came and we finally got in the air, but our flight was delayed by more than an hour and we got into Norfolk at 1 am. Luckily we found a taxi driver to take us to our hotel at like 3 am but is was a rough night-or should I say morning. This all happened around the end of June.

That would have improved those two areas on your score. But nonetheless these planes won’t be flying these routes much longer anyways with the A321XLR coming to UA in a few years. My dad and I were flying from YUL-ORD to get back to the states after going to the Montreal F1 race. We were flying air Canada, and our flight had a short 30 min delay, or so we thought. After we boarded our CRJ-200, we were stuck on the ground for another 2 hours! 2 of the most uncomfortable hours in my life! Thankfully we made it home safelt

I flew from Houston-Bush to Charlotte back in June of 2022, and yes, there were long wait times at both airports, but nothing serious. Just plan ahead and my personal advice, avoid early morning flights, because the wait time at TSA is 2-3x longer wait times. Go with TSA Pre-Check!

I have just had a flight to Cleveland from Newark that first get delayed as a result of our inbound aircraft getting diverted to Albany due to severe weather! Delayed by another 2 hours, and then another 20+ or so minutes down the line, the flight was then cancelled! Luckily I managed to rebook my flight online with no problem or extra charge, but no hotel vouchers were offered! There were no other later nonstop flights to CLE with available seating so I decided to overnight my stay and get in an airport hotel, and decided got an early morning nonstop flight. Perfect example of dealing with such an unfortunate event!

Just got back last night from a transatlantic flight whose first leg was delayed two and a half hours, and then it took us about an hour to get to our gate at JFK after landing. (Granted, that second part could have happened before 2020.)

So no delays happened before 2020, in your opinion or at least not on transatlantic flights?

@@doug.jones.88 Your last comment, in the parenthesis, makes it seem like only the second part could have happened before 2020. That has nothing to do with Jeb’s question. That’s a silly comment as delays have always been common in civil aviation.

Yes Jeb when I flew back home to Phoenix from Reno on AA. The airplane had air conditioning issues which lead me to be home an hour later.

I experienced my second delay, this time on my summer 2023 vacation with my parents to DC, when we were scheduled to leave on our Delta flight at 1030pm from LAX. But the plane at our gate hadn’t left out yet due to waiting on a tug to push it out, which delayed our flight( at the time by 1 hour)which had already arrived and was waiting on that gate to open which had passengers on it waiting to deplane, plus to clean that aircraft for our flight to Detriot, which delayed us even more by another hour making it a 2 hour delay (which made us miss our connecting flight in Detriot). To make a long story short, we didnt leave LAX until 1:00am.Once we arrived in Detriot ,Delta rebooked us on a Tuesday morning flight to DC, which meant we had a day/overnight on Monday in Detriot, but we packed a lot of patience, and we understood. We even took a little tour around Detriot. We were confirmed on the next day flight to DC, but we truly enjoyed experiencing being in a New State and City we never thought we visit. Thank you for sharing your videos Jeb I truly appreciate your travel content!!

It looks like we flew the same day from Newark (the 4th of July). Mine was to Paris. And it was also a mess, since there was still 30 minutes before departure a plane going to Frankfurt at our gate. There was about an hour delay finally, with clear indication about what was going on : “it’s a mess and we are working on it”. TSA was overcrowded also, with more then 45 minutes to go through security. But finally that was a good signal that despite of covid crisis passagers are back !

Jun 20, scheduled MCO/EWR/CPH. United/SAS. Two days before departure United cancelled our flight to EWR. We were rebooked on an earlier United flight which gave us 7 hours at EWR. No problem, we had access to the SAS lounge when it opened. Not the same level as a Polaris lounge but was adequate. Two days before our return the SAS pilots went on strike. We were rebooked on British Airways, CPH/LHR/MCO. All worked out well.

Delays are certainly harder on crews! Your poor crew lost 3 hours of their layover. I had an 18 hour layover turn into 10 once cause of such long delays. We don’t get paid for them either. Passengers don’t understand that we hate them probably more than they do.
