A big thank you for all who participated in the video, you rock!
LYRICS
"I'm walking with Sophie tonight
She lives in the air that I breathe
I can't get it out of my mind
how you were left to bleed
Was it how you dressed
or how you act
I can't believe
how they could act so violently
without regret
well, we will not forget
We are the others
we are the cast-outs
we're the outsiders
but you can't hide us
we are the others
black-eyed and battered
you're not out there on your own
If you feel mistreated
torn and cheated
you are not alone
we are the others
As simple as air in your lungs
as simple as words on your lips
And no one should take that away
no one should argue this
Now with our heads up high
we'll carry on
and carry out
that we won't let them get us down
or wear us out
'cause we are not alone
We are the others
we are the cast-outs
we're the outsiders
but you can't hide us
we are the others
we are the cast-outs
you're not out there on your own
If you feel mistreated
torn and cheated
you are not alone
we are the others
Normal is not the norm
It's just a uniform
(we are the others)
Forget about the norm
(we're the outsiders)
Take off your uniform
(we are the others)
We are all beautiful
We are the others"

I think it's worth mentioning that Sophie Lancaster stood in front of her boyfriend and took most of the beating, so her boyfriend survived. Now she lives on in in this beautiful song drawing attention to things like this. If you ask me, that's worth a seat in Valhalla. Her death certainly wasn't in vain. I usually only say that about particularly accomplished war veterans. Huge respect to Lancaster, huge respect to this band.

Sophie and her boyfriend Rob were targeted by teens for their looks. Rob was the first to be attacked by all five boys. To the point he was badly bleeding and unconscious Sophie managed to get in between. She cradled him on her lap screaming out to witnesses for help. Then two of the boys Ryan Herbert and Brendan Harris turned on her. She was repeatedly kicked in the head and body. She also had her face stamped and jumped on multiple times. When they were done they fled leaving Sophie and Rob on the floor unresponsive and bleeding. Witnesses soon found them and called for ambulances. When the paramedics did arrive they at first couldn’t tell who was the male and who was the female. Because of the amount of bleeding swelling and bruising on their faces. They were sent to hospital in deep comas and placed on life support. Fortunately Robert showed signs of improvement and eventually woke up. But Sophie’s injuries were far to severe she was brain damaged. So as a result her life support machine was turned off and she died.

I realize now it is nothing, that other people have it way worse than I did, but still this song entered my heart when it came out, like it was meant for me. This is still one of the most powerful songs that is completely and 100% inclusive. Black, White, Nerd, Outcast, Goth..... doesn't matter. We are all one. When are we ALL going to get past the judgement? And before you think that you don't judge anyone.... when was the last time you used the name Karen in a joke? When was the last time you sneered at someone wearing a Trump hat? When was the last time you looked down on someone wearing a Biden/Kamala shirt? We are all human, we all make mistakes. We should never be defined by our mistakes. We also all grow.....

I think that's a good bit too generalizing. Yes, we all are human and make mistakes and (tend to) grow. But _in order to grow,_ we need to know that we made a mistake. We very rarely notice on our own, we need others to point those mistakes out in some way or another. Can we all be more kind in how we point those mistakes out? Yeah, definitely. But we must not stop judging, or we'll lose our ability as a group/society/species to _learn_ from our mistakes and grow.

I've said this many times before. But it is true. Hatred to others is bad. But we wouldn't hate upon others if we would just ask what other people feel like. These days if we don't fit into a certain area of other peoples perspective on life then they hate us. This is what was the main reason of why Sophie is gone. She and her boyfriend didn't fit into someone's liking and thus were attacked, but Sophie made a powerful sacrifice, she protected the one she loved at the cost of her own life. Thus is why she is my hero. This is what I say after I tell others of her and her story. "I am Kiba Spirit Walker, I am autistic and ADHD, I am Sophie, and I am proud of who I am no matter what anyone thinks or says about me."

Seeing that sign associated with Charlotte singing "you are not alone" means the world to me. I just had the worst day at work and I felt so alone. No one knows I've got Asperger's, what's the point telling them? They don't even know what it actually means. They'll still think I'm lazy, too sensitive, too weak and incompetent. She wrote the song but did not want to release it without consent of her parents so she contacted the Sophie Lancaster foundation. It is pure luck that the person who answered the call was a huge Delain fan who had just been to one of their UK concerts a couple of days earlier. Her parents are in the clip holding up photo in the first part of the clip.

I've meet ALL of Delain after many of shows (7 I think) and ALL of them are just amazingly sweet people! Martjin was so very kind to take pics with me and talk family and life. Timo (the guitarist) ribbed me heavily after a show, and Otto (bassist) just a down to earth, awesome guy. My wife met Charlotte in the womens bathroom after and show, and again, just a sweetheart. I cannot speak highly of this band and the members!

Sophie Lancaster. Damn. It's been 12 years and I'm still angry and sad about her murder. I hope I always will be angry with people discriminated and victimised just because they differ from conventional social norms. Love that Delain played tribute to her here.

This video brought back a lot of painful memories. Like the person holding the sign in the video, I am gay and out. During my life I have had several friends brutally beaten and one was killed, like Sophie - just for being different. I can't wrap my head around this aspect of humanity. Thank you, Delain, for this song and this video. I hope it helps people begin thinking again. RIP, Sophie.

I was not aware of the murder of Sophie Lancaster. This video inspired me to Google around a bit. What happened to Sophie is so unfair that I'm speechless. As a teen I also used to dress in gothic fashion, now as a young adult I enjoy something else now, I grew up a bit. Thinking back how that could have been my fate as well is so... disturbing. Thank you Delain for this music video and for the message that it sends around the world.

Beautiful song!! What happened to Sophie was despicable and really opens your eyes to how horrible some people in this world are. But this song reminds us that for every horrible person there are more good people. Brave of her mother to go to schools and do assemblies, educating kids about what happened and I was sad to not see that assembly, but my brother saw it. My whole family have been victims of bullying, my mum most of all, and to see someone making a song in memory of someone who died as a result of bullying of the worst kind, it really restores your faith in humanity. RIP Sophie Lancaster xx

I think everyone who was bullied, like me, identifies themselves with this music... I was from "nerd" faction, during elementary and high school I was teased, bullied and excluded from social relationships just because I was nerd with good grades and probably was poor (scholarship in a private school, I had to had great grades to keep the scholarship)... and they called me ugly (because I was tall and thin), 4-eyes (because of the glasses), my nose (it is relatively big, probably because turkish ancestry) my hair was like broom bristles, and to make things worsen, I was very very shy... so shy that I kissed the first time at 17, years after most of other guys here (lost virginity much after)... my family didn't give a damn to my problem... I got free when I entered to university in another city... moved to never come back... after some therapy now I handle this problem relatively well... I love goth style, It was a shame I've never got an opportunity to date a goth girl, now I'm married and have a cute daughter (now 1.5 yead old) who is already being influenced to listen Delain and other symphonic metal bands. EDIT: I already went to Delain concert twice and sang this song very loud. Amazing!

I had suffered from depression since middle school, and I'm now 32. I have LIVED with it, not suffered from it, since shortly after my now 13yr old daughter - the most important thing in this universe to me - was born. She suffers from it, and is beginning to learn to live with it using the same methods she's been seeing me use her whole life. Seeing her dance across the house and sing this song out loud with joy and her heart in her beautiful voice makes my own heart sing just as fully. Thank-you, Delain, though I know those two words aren't enough.

I have just finished writing an assignment for my final year of a BA in criminology , and I chose the Murder of Sophie Lancaster as an example of Hate crime. I was struggling with some of the harder parts of the case and whenever this happened I listened to this song and it gave me the energy to keep going. Our laws around hate crime need to change, we need to protect all difference under our laws , if you attack someone for being different to you in ANY way no matter what that way , it should be considered a hate crime and our laws should write this in black and white. Sophie should never have died because she dressed differently or listened to different music, no one should ever be attacked or victimised for being who they are #WeAreOthers

It's so great that a group of artists think about this subject, it's so rarely today, and a few person know that it's a very serious cause... The case of Sophie should NEVER happened, but the society thinks different, and if you're not like every one, you're persecuted, ashamed, humiliated and so many bad things I don't want to remember...Lucky persons know how to defend themselves but others, not always, they need help, support and a very strong moral. Let us doing all we want to do, the society can't forbid us to be ourself in any case in the world. So, thank you Delain to do a song to talk about this, and I hope that the lyrics will make reflect the listeners and changed a few the (stupid) mentalities who the majority have.
