Dude, it can be the final conclusion to the show if you want it to be. No one made you watch the others. And the fact that it isn't real life makes it matter even less. Many people loved this show so much that they were glad to get a few extra episodes that they could enjoy before the show retired for good.

The best part is that watch was thrown in the garage in the first episode and they only kept note of it because Rodney wanted to show del he could be a serious partner, so he started doing the finances and made an inventory. Some of the finest 3 minutes of television I've ever seen. I miss you grandad.
How utterly clever and talented is John Sullivan to have written all the episodes himself. This should have been the ending. All this time they had that watch in the garage was just perfect. The amount of times Del Boy said, “this time next year Rodney, we’ll be millionaires”.
I know it was only a television show but the magic in this was how the viewers genuinely rooted for del and rodney. TV magic

Agree they should have left it alone when they walked off into the sunset as millionaires. Perfect ending. If they did HAVE to bring it back they should have kept the money rather than go back to square one. Lots of scope for great storylines of Del trying to mingle with the superrich but still being a commoner at heart.
@truth901
3 жыл бұрын
Agree with that very much!! I know John Sullivan's thinking was that 'rich people' just arent funny so that why the footage of them in the 2001 episode as millionaires is only about 3 mins long...he wanted to bring them back to square 1 to make those episodes work...but I do agree with you that going down that route could've worked really well! (A bit like in Ace Ventura 2 when he mingles at the elites party...and pokes fun of them!)

Never will the show be bettered. The build up to this moment in all the serieses and the last trio Priceless.
The reactions of del boy and Rodney make this one of the greatest and funniest moments in the programme.
Absolutely love how Del faints first at hearing £150.000 but he stays standing when he hears 4 million I really thought both would faint when they heard that figure when I first saw this episode 🤣🤣
This should have been the final ever episode it ended perfectly.
The scene was both comedic and touching which OFAH always excelled at. The show had heart , the struggles, hopes, dreaming of the Trotter brothers despite their poverty and plans going wrong in business and love. Tears still spring in my eyes when I watch this scene and of them being applauded in the Nags Head. The only positive from the last 3 eps was baby Joan being born. ❤

To all of you saying that this is where it should have ended, I disagree. It's nice that Del got a taste of the rich life and all, but at the end he realized that he was missing his old lifestyle, the adventures, risks he was taking. The moral is that we all have something that keeps us going and once we reach that goal, instead of feeling a sense of accomplishment, we feel like there is nothing else out there to do, it's the end of the line. We all need something in life that keeps us ticking.
Warms my bloody heart every time. So so good.

I can see why people think this should have been the last episode, I don't know about anyone else but it was a sad kind of episode.. after years of graft they finally made it. But I think the point of the follow on series was to show that money isn't everything, they weren't happy, they lost themselves and realised that real riches were with each other in their flat. I think the follow on series was an important message.
