One of my favorite drummers... his style is unique

Steve is such a killer drummer/musician. Every time i see him and a few other guys (Paul of Cannibal immediately comes to mind...), I think of how these guys (especially the drummers) are playing with and exerting the same (or mostly the same, im sure theyve picked up a few tricks over the years) amount of energy and ability that they did when they started out as teens/early 20's. These guys are in their 50's people. When im 50, i highly doubt ill be able to do most things i did when i was 20 lol. Just incredible. Deicide rules

Steve is probably one of, if not the most consistent players from the old guard. His playing is timeless and he plays so close to perfect album quality as to be 99% indistinguishable. Just amazing 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Not only is he basically the best drummer in this genre, and one of the best drummers in the world, he also plays guitar and piano, and has written innumerable songs. The guy is a musical genius and not only that, but very cool person

One of my favourite drummers too man. The drum tracks he composed for LEGION are still difficult to play, over 30yrs later. The man is still crushing those songs live at the age of 53. Steve is a dead-set weapon and Hall Of Famer.

Can honestly say as someone growing with Deicide from a teen till now i absolutely Respect Steve, he smashes out a set like hes still in his 20s, all single stroke kicks, fukn legend 🤘🤘 Saw Deicide play live once in 06 when i was 16 and was my first ever international show id been to and to see Glen roaring his ass off right in front of me was fukn brutal as fuck!! One of my favourite tracks from my favourite DEICIDE album. Just for the record, I fucking despise commenters who disrespect Steve Asheim by insulting his drumming chops and songwriting contributions over the years The man was one of (if not, THE) fastest and most technical death metal drummers of the 90’s and still plays every song live from the LEGION era perfectly … all at the ripe old age of 53. Edit : If you are unable to comment in a positive fashion regarding Steve … just keep your ignorant fucking thoughts to yourselves. You’ll live longer that way.

Both times I saw him live, I was blown away by even the soundcheck. Just his casual "warm up" was the best drumming I had heard yet. And he was extremely nice and friendly, you can tell he is an awesome guy and so skilled yet very humble! :)

Ive known steve since (we were neighbors) I was 25(?) about 30 years, anyway my point is, he keeps getting better and better, (So do Glen n Kevy Metal) he’s a master of this percussion thing, his skillability and talent could have carried him through a lazy mid to upper career curve and then some day coast along the meandering path to retirement, but he chose to deliver genuine brutality on every release. I know it’s his consistent dedication and practice to what he is most passionate about, (Tunes n Heineken) his self discipline, drive, and motivation to keep it heavy, have always been at skill level - Jedi Master! Just when I thought “ How on Earth can you move up from this point? Hello? Steve? (I Look Up lol) but he did raise the bar again.

I think he is legend.
