    I'm a believer in the way you peel eggs. I used to work in a cafeteria. I was in charge of the salad bar so we went through tons of eggs! But I noticed if I either put the hot boiled eggs in cool water or put cold eggs in very warm water, they seemed to peel easier. My theory was that in either case, the membrane between the egg white and the shell would relax and allow it to be pulled away. Those aprons are adorable. What a super cute idea for the hummingbird feeder too! Jacelyn is so talented! And I looove hummingbirds!

    Heidi, love you and your info! I recently watched many videos about hard boiling eggs. People are having great success with instant pots. I don't have one or wish to invest in one. But found a couple videos about steaming instead of boiling. Tried it with my old collapsible vegetable basket and it works great! Room temp eggs 15 minutes over boiling water, then plunge into cold water. Easy peeling! Hope this helps you. God bless you and your family.

    I sold eggs to a couple that loved boiled eggs. If course mine were quite fresh. They found that setting them out on the counter for a couple of days helped. They were already washed. I like to cool my boiled eggs much like you. I then tap the large end to start breaking the egg. I the use a teaspoon inverted to slip under the shell and remove it that way. I have pretty good success that way 😊

    I just learned this today and tried it myself...apperently its pretty normal in germany, i think, to prick the air sack end (larger rounder end, not the pointy end) of the egg with a thumb tack, then boil them as normal. I steam my eggs for 10-13 minutes. My 4 and 5 day old fresh eggs peeled just like white store bought eggs! I was so happy I laughed out loud! It's been such a struggle with the farm fresh eggs since my chickens started laying last year. So relieved to have found a solution.

  • @beccacoleman498
    @beccacoleman498 Жыл бұрын

    Prick the air sack end of the egg before boiling or steaming, and skip the icewater bath. I just did this tonight. Its all about peircing the membrane under the shell so that moisture/air can get in between the membrane and the white.

  • @RainCountryHomestead

    @RainCountryHomestead

    Vinegar is what you have after about 30 days if left alone. A fermentation starter is kept active and bubbly and not allowed to turn to vinegar. You can check the video I linked in the description box on how to make, use, and maintain a fermentation starter

    Question - HOW do you pull the dandelion petals from the stems more easily?????

  • @RainCountryHomestead

    @RainCountryHomestead

    2 жыл бұрын

    I dry the flower as a whole. The only time it is really necessary to pull all the petals off is if you are making a dandelion wine. The reason for this is to prevent it from turning bitter. While I do make wine, I have many other better uses for my dandelions than that so I do not bother doing that.

I read it is how much green you keep on the tops. Let me tell you it is a PAIN to get all the green off LOL Last year I made one with the green on and one I took over 90% off - unfortunately I cannot compare because one bottle decided to give in to the pressure and knocked out the bottom - yup a sweet mess, sounded like the cork of a champagne bottle shooting!
