For context of why Kurt didn’t hit that note, it’s because it was an audition kinda thing ( i can’t exactly remember) and he threw the note because he didn’t want to be bullied for having a female role (he hits it earlier in the same episode) Also for songs I would recommend Kurt - not the boy next door and Mercedes - River Deep, Mountain High Edit: He didn’t want his FATHER to be harassed, my bad

I love that Hannah mentioned Lindsay Pearce considering her time in The Glee Project and playing Harmony in Glee. I remember they used to say she was the real life Rachel, so for her to end up Elphaba in Broadway, and for Glee to return to Defying Gravity in the later season is so cool.

“As if we’ve never said goodbye” , “being alive”, and “not the boy next door” are some of my favorites of Kurts !!

The BEST Kurt solo is "Being Alive." It's honestly a top 5 Glee song. Additionally, his version of "Rose's Turn" is one of the best versions of that song.

One of Mercedes' best performances in my opinion is "I Will Always Love You". It gives me chills every time. Also, "Bust Your Windows" was another AMAZING performance.

Another GREAT glee performance is Adam Lambert’s Marry the Night, that one is INCREDIBLE

definitely should react to “Ain’t no way”. it is SOO underrated and SOO good !!!! It’s a duet but “River deep mountain high” is amazing also.

For some really great Kurt songs, try: Roses Turn - Season 1 Episode 18 Laryngitis I Want to Hold Your Hand - Season 2 Episode 3 Grilled Cheesus Le Jazz Hot - Season 2 Episdoe 4 Duets The Boy Next Door - Season 3 Episdoe 18 Choke The Greatest Star - Season 3 Episode 2 I am Unicorn I Believe in a Thing Called Love - Season 5 Episode 9 Frenemies Context for this video: Kurt really wanted a chance to sing this song, but Mr Schue and Rachel basically told him he didn't deserve the chance since it's typically a girls song (hence the stick eye he keeps giving them throughout this). Then his dad threatened to sue the school if he didn't get a fair chance so it became a "Diva Off". Kurt hit the note in rehearsal but blew the note on purpose after his dad received a homophobic phone call about him, and wanted to try and protect his dad from that side of his life.

I’m not sure if anyone has said it but Mercedes kills it with: Disco Inferno, Ain’t No Way, Someday We’ll Be Together, and Try a Little Tenderness. All four of those songs had me in a pile of tears and goosebumps 😭

The BEEEEEEST Rachel/Kurt like back and forth like this, was Dont Cry For Me Argentina. Same key, same like, solo singing it but flashing back and forth. It was phenomenal

It's not her most challenging, but Amber's take on Human Nature is very warm. Ain't No Way is probably my favorite of her songs. Chris's version of I Wanna Hold Your Hand (with an arrangement like Across the Universe) always makes me tear up. Also, as we're getting close to the holiday, Baby It's Cold Outside is very sweet and flirty.

Mercedes slays every single song. I think she’s the most consistent and impressive of all of them on the show. They all have great voices but Mercedes is just 🔥

I thought Rachel and Kurt singing For Good was really amazing 'cause it came later after they became friends on the show and they sounded so good together. As for Mercedes I really loved it when she sang. I Look To You.

Literally all of Mercedes performances are amazing. Pick any season and you’re gonna love it! Please do Amber’s version of Defying Gravity that she did for the Wicked Concert!

You should consider listening to Kurt singing “Black Bird”. It’s probably my favorite performance of his through the entire series.

For Mercedes, "and I am telling you" is a must-see! Maybe give River deep, mountain high a listen too. As for Kurt, I recommend Rose's turn. I believe they let Chris Colfer choose Rose's turn as a song, and it suits him much better than many of the other songs they had him sing during the show.

Love the Glee reactions and would love to see more Kurt/Chris Colfer. Him and Rachel do a great 'Bring Him Home' battle and 'For Good' but his 'Being Alive', 'As if we never say goodbye', 'Not the boy next door' and 'Roses turn' are absolutely amazing (also I'm sure someone has said but his character throws the note on purpose so he doesn't win - he's actually shown in the episode hitting it in practice as his dad gets homophobic calls about him). I just need someone to appreciate Kurt/Chris Colfer's magic voice

One of my favorite Kurt performances is from Season 4, episode 9, Being Alive. Definitely worth a listen.

You said Unique… There is a character in the show with that name, one of the best voices among the cast. Her best performance is “If I Were a Boy”, you should TOTALLY check it out! Also, grab a tissue, it’s very emotional…

Solo kurt and solo rachel version are both on spotify. We can cut her some slack since she did not watch glee and it is actually good to see someone give a fresh take on the performance.

If you looking for great Mercedes peformence you need to check out "And I am telling you" from glee or Oliver Awards cause Amber actually played elfie on westend and absolutely killed it.

She also just sang Defying Gravity for a PBS special recently and killed it as usual.

One of my all-time favorite Mercedes performances is her season 1/Episode 16 "Beautiful"... So much more raw than some of the other songs where it sounds like they have "processed" her voice, and demonstrative of the sheer talent she has from the start of the series when she felt like she was always pushed into the background. 10 years later, it still brings tears to my eyes, and not just when I catch glimpses of the 3 lost talents...

You should have done the one in the later seasons, they do this song again competing against each other and Kurt DOESN'T throw the note and there's less auto tune. Absolutely worth it

Kurt/Chris Colfer has a really amazing range and voice, but I think his strongest suit is probably his acting (as Chris,) and the emotion he brings to each song. With that being said, Rose's Turn, I Want to Hold Your Hand, and I Am Not the Boy Next Door are my personal favorites of his songs (with Hold Your Hand being really strong vocally, too.)

Being Alive is another good one

If you want to hear more from Melissa Benoist who also played supergirl in the flash episode she was on glee from season 4-5 i believe and had many great songs. I recommend her cover of A Thousand Years who she duets on with another member of the glee cast. She sounds phenomenal

He's not bad in the duets, of course, but by their nature he's only singing a couple of lines at a time so it doesn't build. Of you just want to hear Kurt there are better songs. Rose's turn being one of them.

I recommend listening to idina Menzel and Lea michelles songs. Idina portrays Rachels mom and they were spot on in casting because gleeks were like "are you sure Idina isn't Leas mom?" because they legit look like a mother daughter duo.

The harmonies in the album version of this are amazing

Sadly Kurt intentionally flubbing the first battle just fed into Rachel’s ego into insufferable levels (she even said she staked her entire backing on that one win)

Rose's turn, 4 minutes and Being alive are some of my favourite Kurt songs for sure.

If you want Kurt’s best performance, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND “Being Alive” and for Mercedes “And I’m telling you” and “Ain’t no way” Also, for an amazing Mercedes and Santana duet “River Deep, Mountain High”

If you want a song Kurt really shines in you should listen to "Being Alive" season 4 episode 9. It's one of my favorite performances from him. There's also "I wanna hold your hand," which was a very emotional piece.

My thoughts as a not vocal teacher at all: Kurt: you are redeemed from season 1, Mercedes: this song proves you’ve learned restraint it was beautiful, Rachel: I was feeling you channel Celine Dion and I am 100% not mad about it. Flawless.

Nobody: Me: Waiting with excitement for you to get to the end where Kristin Chenoweth (guest starring) says, “that song should be on the Broadway”.
