I don't think the ladies interviewing & asking questions completely understood or had much background on who or what the band Deftones was. I think she was trying to get the band to talk about the "remixed song" passenger that's up for a Grammy but didn't quite ask the question properly.

They probably know deftones because of trippie red and, I remember back in the mid 90s when I was the only one in my town who even knew who the deftones were and it wasn’t a trend to listen to extreme music but now seems like people do it because it’s cool.

I don’t watch any type of award shows but based off of today’s popular music I had no idea they acknowledged real artist and musicians. Glad to see Deftones there even if this was awkward for them. This just shows it’s about music to them and not starving for attention like most artist these days.

I think the Recording Academy does a good enough job with their nominations. I think every generation gives into that narrative of "today's music isn't as good as it was in (insert decade)." And because of that, we think the Academy only has 10 trash artists to nominate. The reality is that the Academy is made up of musicians, not 15-year-old teeny boppers. Popular music IS nominated because it actually is good, BUT many of the nominations are of talented musicians that you won't hear on the radio. I personally would say check out this years nominees and listen to a few of the artists. You may be pleasantly surprised! I tried this in 2014 and discovered Snarky Puppy and Hiatus Kaiyote as they were both nominated for best R&B Performance with the likes of Bruno Mars. I check the list every year and ALWAYS find something good.

Any Gen Z'ers who thought Chino was being rude never saw any of their interviews from the 90s, and likely have no clue how vastly influential the Deftones have been to modern music of many genres.

I love Genesis (the song that was nominated in the same category as Dream Theater), but I think Amazonia by Gojira deserved it more. But Gojira, Deftones, and Dream Theater were all three incredible bands that deserved it almost equally.

I didn't even listen to the Dream Theatre album, but seeing that they were placed into this category after the Grammy's have dissed them since before Deftones formed, I was like, I bet it's Dream Theatre's time. (that is totally my own opinion, but Dream Theatre was always known as a musicians band, & the academy never felt they had enough attraction value with regular music fans so they have been getting overlooked for decades.)

It’s not the band that was awkward, it was the entire interviewers and Grammy circus that were awkward 🤡. Oh how far people have fallen with music taste. Deftones deserved better, even though they didn’t attend their own Grammy win in 2000!

Won a Grammy in 2000 and I wasn’t there for it. Only 22 years later am I back to finally receive my 2000 Grammy and in 2042 I will come back for todays….

Chino gave zero eff's lol. I love how the interviewer was trying to get him to talk more and he was just giving these shorted, pointed answers. I bet they weren't expecting that at all with all of the massive egos on that red carpet that night.

About 2 years ago I saw Deftones made an announcement for the 20 year anniversary tour for White Pony. The pandemic happened so they had to cancel the tour but would reschedule for another time. 2021 I saw people selling their tickets as cheap as $50-80 when original price was about $200/300. Bought 2 tickets thinking they may not do the show at all but I still held on to them. 2022 May 15th, saw them perform and I couldn’t be any happier. Chino and the band were great, the lights were amazing, the crowd was awesome when most of us are like our 30’/40’s but we chillin. My first time seeing them Live and it was so great! 🥰❤️

Just saw them play last night in Seattle. The energy was amazing and I'm so happy they were my first concert back to seeing live shows since the lockdown started in 2020. Loved them since Adrenaline and have seen them live 3 times now. Will never pass up the chance to see them and have Chino scream at me in the pit 🤘🏻

I used to be a HUGE Deftones fan. Than Chi died and their music has not been the same at all. They just kicked him out so maybe they'll get someone who doesnt this time.
