This one’s a top 5 Deftones song ever for me. The main riff contrasting with the slow sludgy sounds, the brutally heavy drumming, Chino’s subdued vocals that sound like he’s dying, the “go get your knife” part, and the breakdown… oh boy, the screams on that breakdown are genuinely bone-chilling. Perfect song, also one of the Deftones songs that helps me destress. Cheers!

And yet somehow still feels like nothing more than a lead-in to the next song, 'Korea', which is arguably an even better song - although comparisons are ridiculous, but still - that's a hell of a song, too. I wasn't able to even hear this song w/o pulling that one up next...which makes me pity people that aren't old enough to understand the value of playing full albums, and not just listening to singles.

I'll never forget. The album had just come out and I was in a band I loved and we would hang out all the time. I had my discman and on a summer night we just lay out on the front lawn (teens) and I was jamming to it in the dark while they talked. Such good times.

This song pretty much embodies every element that makes Deftones one of the most exciting bands ever. Masterpiece.
I'm 27 now and Deftones has been with me through thick and thin. When My parents got a divorce back when I was 10 andthis is the first song I've ever heard from them and I thought this was the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard since then. I remeber when I first saw their band name on a sticker and asking my mom who they were. She replied, " They are the greatest band to come out of the 90's and still be stronger and better then ever." And it was all history after that. I love my deftones, I just hope I get to see them live here soon!! R.I.P Chi

I was just thinking about how we possibly grew up in the last era of incredible musicianship - at least for now. "No wonder nothing is as good as what we've known" if this is true. There have been people I've seen talk about downloading hurting music, and I can't help but believe it literally, and the economy and travel restriction since 11.sept.01 have literally changed the culture all this great art came up, out of.

This is my absolute favorite Deftones song ever, and I’ve been waiting since 2001 to learn how it’s played! I love Stephen for doing these!
Some of Steph's most atmospheric playing. The whole band comes together so organically on this one.

@@nine-toedsloth7168what riff is original in music anymore? There are only so many notes nobody owns a chord. It just can’t be a direct copy but if you want to play a g minor and a b minor or whatever or a minor e minor how many hundreds of people haven’t played the same even in the 60’s and 70’s alot of chord progressions are the same in all music and music today people rhyme the same combinations of words nothing is original but solos arrangement and the way it’s performed.

Stephen is probably one of the most underrated guitarists. His riffs are freaking amazing! People forget that riffs are what make songs most of the time. I have seen so many amazing musicians make horrible riffs. It is not as easy as it looks. It involves a deep level of creativity.

The guitar parts in this song are so simple, its easy to assume there's more to it than there actually is.
God bless you Steph, your riffs can be so simple yet so powerful at the same time. There's so much emotion that radiates out of the Deftones, that's what will immortalize you guys through out music history, how you make people feel when they listen to your music.
The beginning of this song is one of my favorites. I'm so glad Steph has put these back out there with the playthroughs
Chi’s bass and Abe’s drumming stands out big time in this.

Absolutely great song
That vocal sperging section? For nearly two decades, chills every time. Someone thank that chick. Her vocal chords likely never recovered from that murder session.
Love that song.
I love that ESP 7 string tele!!!

Ty so much for doing these play throughs Steph ✌️
Beauty in simplicity!
Such a great video. Steph you rock!
Such a simple riff but amazing
I'd love an acoustic Knife Party, I know they did that Hawaii one, but I want a studio version 😭
The harmonic overtones and unsettling undertones on these simple riffs are just so spellbinding. God, that breakdown is almost like the elevated horror remix of the Everlong intro riff. Stephen's ability to create pure Vibe with minimal effort is completely unmatched in my opinion. What a track. A classic FOREVER.
No one makes music like Deftones
I've recently discovered that my White Pony CD has a hidden Pacman game with 8-bit My Own Summer playing in the background. I love it.
The hoodie goes well with the song for some reason.
