Feels privileged to have the fan base he has.... I appreciate the modesty. I'm still waiting for the day that the Deftones get the recognition they deserve. The GORE album is a masterpiece. I can't quit listening to it. Once the beat hit me, which, for whatever reason, with all of their albums, takes forever. I can't quit listening to THAT album. I've done this for the last... 15 years? Yikes lol. I can't help it. To me, nothing compares to this band. They are alone on this creative deftone journey. I used to think Tool was the only band to relate them to but they are also on that single wave length that nobody else comes close to. I'm just very grateful they are still making music. Without it... I'm not so sure how I would have matured. It was just yesterday that Doomed User gave me this insight into my current mindset that hopefully can push me into the phase of my life. Where maybe, I can make something more of myself. And that, my friends, is music. Sounds that create sparks in people. Words that set them ablaze.

I just posted elsewhere on how paradox Deftones music is within itself, and that i cant think of any other band with such strange/haunting/gorgeous/groove/simplicity-complexity tug of war within their songs. I love it. But some of their albums def took time for me to get into because i don't understand it initially. I love =around the fur/white pony/diamond eyes/noi yokan (truly classics) But ohms/gore/Sat. night wrist- all took time for me to digest. Adrenaline album is crazy if you consider that they're like 18-20 years old or something making songs like "bored" which is so ahead of its time. "Deftones" self titled album i STILL dont understand especially coming of the heels of white pony album which was their big mtv/radio moment. The singles are classic- hexogram and Minerva, but many of the other songs seem like they are unfinished in one way or another. Like some of the recordings sound like recordings from early 80s quality amd some songs feel incomplete. Long live Deftones!!

I'd rather bands take time to release interesting and worthwhile music. Bands like Five Finger Death Punch have release 7 studio albums since 2007 and even their biggest fans must surely concede that there isn't that much to differentiate them (at least from the ones I've heard, I can't tell most of the songs apart but they're mostly about "the demons inside of me"). Each Deftones album as a unique flavour and feel to it and often slightly different production. So most fans are eagerly anticipating Gore but speaking for myself I'm happy to wait for something I'm very confident is going to be great.

It's gonna be Saturday Night Wrist Pt.2
So far I haven't heard anything I liked from Gore. Hopefully the rest of the album impresses me.

Maybe it will be one of those albums that grows on you or one day is like "boom!" I get it now. I've had records that I really didn't dig then out of no where I listened to it with a different ear and something clicked... Not always the case however.

I completely agree... However... Not their sound at all. It's shit. I listened to white pony when it dropped. Hated it but for one song. Then one day the album hit rotation and I sat through it. One of my favorites now... This pussy echo scream whine has got to go.

+dallasb841 See now I really think it shouldn't because I love Gore, have on repeat often. I don't think it's that vastly different from their previous albums. People do this a lot with bands and it actually pisses me off because the people that complain about their sound changing are often the same people who complain when it doesn't change it all.
I love this man and this band. no homo. Ok maybe a little.

Whatever it is that makes a person completely ignore what a person is saying and fixate on their looks instead... I'm glad I don't have that tendency, because it's fucking annoying.

Springfeeeel I am a health professional. Rapid weight gain leads to multiple problems such as CAD. I don't want that to happen to my favorite band. So chill out.
Gore is their best record since white pony !

dallasb841 what other album since white pony has been amazing? I have to agree with OP
This man simply can't speak words for the life of him
someone is a little too serious about his art. I think the 'tones may have jumped the shark. Also not in love with what I'm hearing coming down the pike. This may be the first album I don't buy.

You would prefer artists not care about their art? It sounds like you just don’t appreciate art.

@@TheAlibabatree Chino-led deftones is crap. If a 4-year-old makes a fingerpaint, I feel free to thoroughly dislike it.

@@JasonSallinger But that has nothing to do with “taking art too seriously”.
Their worst record.
