***** I remember as if it happened yesterday. I watched a local TV metal rock show and then they played music video Bored. I was shocked how this band sounds interesting. It was sometime in 1997. I was lucky to see them once live. My favorite album is Around the Fur.

The coolest hing I ever seen, was Chino doing a trust fall from the top of a speaker stack about 20 years ago. Roughly about a 20 foot fall into the crowd. It was amazing.

This Band has been one of the most immaculate groups ever. Their sound progression over the years is nothing short of astonishing

Just saw them play NJ with my 16 year old daughter. One of the best experience’s I’ve had. To enjoy a concert of a band I’ve loved since I was a teenager with my little one who fell in love as well. Thank you Deftones for the experience.

+ciel sombre Radio is a pretty braud point of reference. There's a radio station for all types of music. If you're talking about billboard radio and like z100 (that's the pop station where I live) then yeah I would agree. But that's a pop station. You still get some good stuff on some stations for rock, metal, rap, alternative, etc. I mean let's be honest, it's not like "7 Words" and Deftones in general were getting pop radio play in the 90s. It mostly came from alternative stations and MTV

+ciel sombre But this really wasn't that mainstream back then. Deftones had some commercial success and a good fanbase and made an impact but they were never huge. Pop radio has practically always been shit, and that's the point I'm trying to make. People love to remember the 90s for grunge, alternative, and the golden age of hip-hop and as great as that all is it wasn't the only thing popular back then. There were shit pop stars back then just like how there's shit pop stars now. People in the 90s loved to say that mainstream music sucks and the 70s were better. Now kids today are saying mainstream music sucks and the 90s are better. Things are never gonna change.

As much as I have to agree with the fact that people glamorize the past, and will forever do so, I do have something to counterarguments on some of your points. This mainly has to do with the fact that back in the day, even though pop was the same as it is today, there were way more different genres made "publicly". There were metal nights on MTV, pop punk was played on the radios, underground hiphop bands were given some mainstream media recognition. Whereas today the only things you see or read on tv, radio, magazines etc are artists that are usually backed by gigantic record labels. The mainstream media barely covers any other music genres besides trashy pop and some edm. Back in the 90s and even early 00s there was way more leeway for different types of music genres being exhibited to the masses.

I love the way these guys transition from Adrenaline to Koi No Yokan! Can't wait to hear what their new album has in store

I think I was fortunate enough to see Deftones about 12-15 times over the years, and they just never disappoint. Chino is just a monster on the mic!! Most certainly one of my all time favorite bands. I still play their albums on repeat in my car all the time!!

If you have not seen Deftones live... you need to. I just got back from the concert and my mind was obliterated by the awesomeness.

I'll never forget seeing this Deftones at 1st Ave in Minneapolis when Chino climbed the speakers and jumped into the crowd. I love what they evolved into, but this is always what brings me back. Shut up you don't know me.....

I remember this was the very first song/video by The Deftones that I ever heard. Immediately got on their street team and was mailed a ton of stickers, cassette tapes to hand out, and a very special blue mini-vinyl of this single. Such a great band and every one of their shows was incredible.

@@juju_wirehead13aww thanks .. :) yeah, I do have it along with some of my little cassette tapes from the "street team" days (before internet came out, bands depended on fans and word of mouth if they didn't get much radio play. They would send street team members packets of stickers, fliers for upcoming shows, posters and singles to hand out to people and put up at public places .... in exchange the fans who joined the street team list could maybe get free tickets or backstage passes the next time the band was in town. It was pretty cool actually lol. Cheers :)

My head pops up from the crowd looking to the left at 1:03. They filmed this 2x that night. One time Chino had a red shirt on, the 2nd time he had a white wife beater on. You can see both cuts mixed together. After the 2nd time, they cut the show short because Chi’s GF just had a baby. RIP Chi!
