If the footballs used in the NFL can be tampered with to enhance a teams chances of winning then the NFL should make a rule that all footballs on both sides of the field will be managed and controlled by NFL officials and not the team equipment managers. Simple solution. Teams who are caught cheating should be disqualified and assessed a loss in that competition. The exposure of cheating at the very top of professional sports has sickened me to the point that I don't watch any of them any more with one exception and that is golf.

Goes to show you how phony Goodell is. There is video of refs checking in the 4 Games in Fall documentary on Amazon and the refs are joking and half paying attention when checking the PSI in the balls. It was never a real thing. It was just something they thought the public would buy and obviously many rubes did.

Make a rule that says if a team is found to have tampered with the balls, after they have been inspected, then that team will forfeit the game. I imagine that would stop it. But, let's be clear, the NFL is not a sporting organisations. It's a business monopoly.

It’s a little more than what you’d think. (I used to work as a lead football team manager- I dealt with almost anything you can think of on a team) To start off, it gets rid of situations like this. By having not two, but four different balls you really get diversity and make sure its less likely cheating occurs. They also immediately have a stand in if one has a problem. Then you go to the aspect of plays. It gets very hectic on the sidelines/field sometimes with tv breaks, so much staff, occasionally hurt players and more. Sometimes the balls genuinely get lost on the sideline. That’s why you have a ball boy, they take care of the balls and make sure to keep one ready for play. The third reason is marketing. By having two you can sign those by your main guys, or give one away and keep the other if it’s something historic. Very smart for marketing. In the end it’s really so each team plays on offense with their own ball, making it less likely cheating happens and that no one can accuse the other of sabotage. I hope this helps 💙✌️

Apparently people don't know about the Ideal Gas law and the fact that the Patriots' balls started at 12.6 psi, the minimum allowed. The temperature was much lower on the field than in the locker room, so when they were measured at halftime they would be below the limit. Also. the only reason the Colts' balls had less of a drastic change was the fact that they were measured after the Patriots' balls, giving them a chance to have the psi go back up a bit. If these people actually used science, they would be telling a different story. I am not saying that the balls weren't deflated, I'm saying that the Patriots didn't deflate the balls, the weather did.

Colts footballs were similarly underinflated at the same time. NFL lawyers admitted in the first court appeal that they had no credible evidence of any violation. It was bullshit right from the start....

Since football started teams have been given balls to alter and do whatever they want to do with them no one has ever checked them ever before. Other teams deflate inflate scruff Mark gauge balls all the time. The reports were wrong that 11 out of the 12 balls or under deflated and Chris Martenson had to apologize to the New England Organization for saying that false statement. In the Ted Wells report the Indianapolis Colts also had balls that were under deflated. In the wells report also noted that 1 gauge had all the balls correct the other gauge had two of the balls slightly under deflated. It was blowing up through the media just to try to put a stain on New England's name for anyone who knows anything about football all the NFL knows that it was the most ridiculous thing in history. so at half-time they put the correct air in and the Patriots score five times as much as they did with the under-inflated. this was a sting purposely set up by John Harbaugh and the Colts.

Now we all know the Cleveland Browns would've been in the super bowl now if they used under inflated balls!!! Definitely sure it was used on them by some of teams... C'mon now how else could you explain so many losses!

Wonder if the air gauges could have been off . I've gotten multiple brand new air gauges off the shelf that have been off as much as 5 psi. Frankly the Patriots have proven that they don't need under inflated balls to win games. Just watch your tire pressure flexuate when it's cold outside. Hell it will even rise after a few minutes of driving when the tires warm up.

Pats footballs started at 12.5. That is the lowest pressure in the range. Colts pressure was at 13.5. If the temperature drops, pressure drops. If it's cold enough to drop by 1lb, then the colts are still in spec but the pats are out of spec. Also, when they're warming back up. if you check the colts after the pats, they get more time to warm up and the pressure rise. Because it's semantics. It's for show. The balls had nothing to do with the outcome of the game. The first half score was 17-7 Patriots. Some underinflated balls were used by the Patriots in the first half. The officials discovered this and properly inflated the Patriots underinflated balls for use in the second half. The Patriots then outscored the Colts 28-0 in the second half for a final score of 45-7. If anything, the Patriots should thank the officials for discovering the problem and fixing it for them. This. Is. A. Nothing. Deal. The ONLY reason there is a range of pressure the balls should be at is consistency. The guidelines are not there to prevent cheating; they are there because many balls are used in a game, and they just want them to be CONSISTENT, so that all the balls feel about the same. That's the ONLY reason there is a range of pressure the balls should be pressurized to. It's not because you get some grand advantage by using balls pressurized outside this range. Still - it's a rule. The Patriots broke it. They were fined. That's the end of the story. They paid the piper. It had ZERO impact on the outcome of the game. As stated above, the Patriots performed BETTER with balls inflated to specifications. So, if anything, the Patriots should thank the officials for discovering the problem and properly inflating the balls so they could perform BETTER than they were before.

Why cheat though?The integrity and authenticity of professional sports is what makes it intriguing. To even have speculations that you are cheating ruins the quality of the game. Because of an unfair advantage, no matter how big or small. So the Patriots should have asterisks next to games in which they were caught cheating. It’s plain and simple.
