Gender-swapped geniuses with angelic voices, singing physics to the sweet melodies of Broadway witches. In an a capella KZread video. Damn, am I millennial or what?

I know that the chance of you seeing this is small but I just wanted to say that you are both major inspirations to me going back to school (in 7th grade at 27years old) fueled by a desire to study physics. It's amazing to see you working together. Keep being awesome.

I had no idea that Diana (PhysicsGirl) could sing! Of course, Malinda is glorious. I only hope that Diana will be able to sing again one day, but for now, she’s just trying to survive. 😢☹️

Google: “Did you mean to search for defying gravity?” NO, Google, I meant defining gravity because I believe someone out there is clever... Faith rewarded! I had no idea what I would find yet this is exactly what I was hoping. Absolutely marvelous. Thank you :)

AnnaIsABanana This song has made me almost want to study physics more, even though I don’t understand it half the time. We tend to think of scientists as just stuck in labs doing experiments, but I actually know a couple of them who are quite talented in music. Even my dad can sing pretty well. He is a scientist, and he has a good singing voice, though he only sings to be goofy.

Hi, Can you explain me more about this statement clearly?
@williambarnes5023
Жыл бұрын
@@NewKZreadisstupid Mass is attracted to other mass, just like charge is attracted to opposite charge. When you scuff across the carpet to go to touch a doorknob and get shocked, you don't think of the lightning bolt jumping from your fingertip to the doorknob as going down. You shouldn't think of gravity the same way either. The world is round. Gravity pulls us towards the center of the planet, but it also pulls the center of the planet towards your feet. We're orbiting the Sun because of gravity. Flip it around, upside down, it's still just masses attracting each other mutually. The Earth is being pulled towards the Moon by gravity. The Sun is being pulled towards the Earth. In deep space or when riding along in an orbital path, you go into zero-g. There's no such thing as down.
"I can't - I'm already dead!" "You don't have to die! The faster you fly, the slower your time! You'll catch up to me eventually! Just you and I....REFINING GRAVITY!!!" 😂🤣

I have only one complaint: 1:06. Newton didn't have the notion of a "limit of a function" in the 1600s. He knew that the "h" in the difference quotient cancels out, but he wasn't really concerned with why it canceled out. The modern concept of limits come from Karl Weierstrass in the first half of the 1800s. That's about a 150 year difference from the publication of the "Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy" to the rigorous formulation of limits. PS: I really do love the video. It's on repeat and is my main study music for April.

Newton also didn't know what Riemann sums were, so I'd say we can take the lyrics with a grain of historic salt. But I agree that this is an awesome parody!
@d.e.p.-j.7106

Newton didn't have a formal concept of limit with epsilons and deltas, but he did talk about quantities approaching zero. He also had the completely rigorous concept of limit that goes back Eudoxus, Euclid, and Archimedes now called the method of exhaustion.
As a physics student, the line “ the world around me traced with geometric means” gives me the chills on so many levels!
3:00 that's such a mean burn....
I just totally geeked out. Science and Wicked doesn't get better than this
Yay! Malinda!!! And Physics Girl too, I didn't recognise her at first!
If there's anything better in life than physics-based musical theater, I haven't found it yet. Amazing job. Oh, and can +Physics Girl sing, or what?
I think I've got something in my eye. This was seriously brilliant. I mean, you do brilliant things, but this was just amazing. Makes me want to whish for 'Gravity the Musical', or something I don't know. Gosh, is someone cutting onions in here?
How did I not find this sooner? I have no words :') Malinda and Diana in the same video, I'm figuratively crying of awesomeness ^^ (for the longest time ever I used to mix them up, so this is unimaginable to me) :D
One of my favourites here 4:17 blew my mind , Malinda totally rocked it o_o
This is perfect on just so many levels....the lyrics are amazing, clever, appropriate, and the performances are spot on. As an engineer who happens to love Defying Gravity, this cross-over is both crazily perfect. Sub'd Got directed here from physicsgirl btw

Tim Teatro I bet they would. Einstein once said "I stand on the shoulders of gaints" I'm sure that included Newton
I don’t know why but this song always makes me want to cry.
This is absolutely incredible! The arrangement sounds SO good, and the lyrics are amazing - they're so clever and fit into the rhyme scheme so well (I especially laughed at "I'm through inventing limits/the ones that Leibniz stole" and "I hope you don't go manic/and deny quantum mechanics")
And you never wind up manic, and deny quantum mechanics That little head shake just cracks me up every time. Perfect expression and timing.
Truly effing *AMAZING*! Unreal arrangment, inspired genius lyrics, unreal vocals by all, fantastic editing - I can't stop watching! Forget Broadway, Patreon, here we come!

Me, too. I keep coming back to it to bring me hope for a better future.
This thing is the best I've seen in a LONG time, all categories!
Watching this brought tears of joy to my eyes, it was the best experience I had this month, and that's already been a fantastic month: playing 80h of Stellaris (Paradox Interactive), watching 4h of Game of Thrones (Season 6), and starting to read Sean Carrolls new Book ("The Big Picture").
Another fantastic video. Malinda and Physics Girl could be on Broadway.
Tim, for what it's worth, I think your background vocals keep getting better and better. I don't know how, but the overall production quality seems to be too! So don't wear yourself out, my man. Glad you seem to be having a creative burst recently, but I don't think anyone would mind if you spaced out your brilliance more for your own sake. :]
"I cant, I'm already dead" I DID NOT EXPECT THIS BUT IM HERE FOR IT
Both of these talents sang their heart out! This was marvelous!!! Carry on +Malinda and +Dianna. You both are unique, in your fields...
That 9th in the final push on the last chord?..... 🔥 Also, great vocals by all. I'm very surprised and very impressed. I got here from the PhysicsGirl channel.
OH MY FUCKING GOD THAT WAS THE MOST PERFECT THING I EVER SAW
Thank you Tim, for once again breaking the limits of awesome as we know it. You deserve more than this small attention, hopefully your regularly scheduled videos this year's will help with that, maybe a viral one will be abound them. This masterpiece once more shows how badly you need an article on Wikipedia, because your relevance can not be denied. Look up your name more often in the near future…
If someone wants something bad enough, they'll get it, or die of old age working to get it. Einstein sure did, and may we all be so blessed.
...........youtubed my favorite singer, Malinda Kathleen Reese, came here......gleefully watched them preform a song that is slowly becoming one of my favorite karaoke songs.........over 12 times straight..........oh god I am in love!
Both of these lovely ladies have such beautiful, harmonizing voices. This is a masterpiece. A true work of Art.
my only regret with this masterpiece is that the venn diagram of my friends who are physics nerds and my friends who are theater kids is two separate circle. "Fundamental physics and musical" is way to niche and I love that song and I have no friend who can geek out about it with me and Im sad.
Gives me chills down my spine everytime.
The evolution of scientific theory!! Magnificent!!
Absolutely brilliant. I had no idea Diana could sing so beautifully, too... and now I must find Malinda’s channel.
This is one of the most spectacularly nerd-tastic things I have ever seen! Thank you!!
There's something wrong here. Why doesn't this have a thousand times more views?!?!? Seriously! It should have millions of views!
This made me very, very happy
God...that was legit epic.
As a fan of the Leibniz form of writing calculus, I truly appreciate that reference, it always makes me smile when the true creator of calculus gets mentioned.
Malinda drew me here. Great work!
HOW do they sing that well? Holy moley, that was AMAZING! I also like how you switched the source material around. I can't praise this video enough
How does this video not have like, I dunno, millions of views?!! This is, without exaggeration, one of the best KZread videos ever produced. Tim, Dianna, Malinda, this is beyond fantastic!!

THANK YOU for mentioning Liebniz! Most folks yell NEWTON NEWTON NEWTON when it comes to the invention of calculus. I’m not saying Newton wasn’t brilliant; just that modern evaluation says they both arrived at said discipline independently. Newton just gets the lion’s share of the credit because he the far more well known of the two.
Beautiful. Simply beautiful. So glad that this appeared in my Facebook newsfeed!
Showing this to my Physics classes... AGAIN! Thank you for an amazing video. Physics Girl: you have a beautiful voice.
one technical correction: newton did not invent limits. neither did leibniz. the limit wasn't formally invented until 200 years after their deaths. they both were still using infinitessimals.
Pure goosebumps!
I got chills!! This is so good!
Golly this is uplifting! I am crying while listening (for the tenth time)! What amazingly talented people! I absolutely love you guys!
crazy, insanely awesome omg
Sometimes I wish we had time travel just so we could go back in time to all those famous people who are dead and be like: "Rest easy, friend. You were right. I'm from the future. You were right."
Mad props. Props all around. Check out the brains AND the vocal cords on Melinda and ScienceGirl. Props to Acapella science for making this happens and props to freakin Stephen Schwartz. What a banger.

This is the most beautiful thing I heard in quite a while! Very well done!!!
Absolutely brilliant!
I love your stuff! It fluidly combines two aspects of my nerdiness into one awesome song after another! Keep up the good work!
This was amazing beyond limits!! It's been almost 5 years but, you know, time is relative. And this is awesome.
How dare you combine my love of Wicked and Gravity theorems.
Thank you for the physics, Tim, and for all the amazing videos. You always make my day better.
Goosebumps! Literally. How did I not know of this channel until now?
That was just amazing! Incredible talent and creativity!
I had the idea to write a song like this and I'm glad I searched this up before taking the time. Nice work. I was like "oh, I hope they included Einstein" Was not disappointed.
You and Malinda are literally one of my favorite artists ever so this was a masterpiece I never knew I needed 😭💖. Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into your videos~
