Defining Bolt Preload Using Ansys Mechanical - Lesson 2

This video shows that preloading a bolt ensures that the mating parts stay connected during operation. The rules for bolt preloading (or bolt pretension) dictate that under normal conditions, the load carried by the bolt should not exceed a certain fraction of its proof load.
