In a few years the computer will be valueless, but the old radio would have gone up in value. Oh well...

There is a lot more value in old computer components than an old radio which does not work. Most of the world is turning off analogue signals. Why in a few years would anyone want a large wooded box in there home that does nothing?

Value is in the eye of the beholder. Money is a thing we made up as humans and we can choose to give and take value as we please. How you measure value is not universal.
