I think the early harassment of JoJo directly contributed to where she is now, not only was she surrounded by groomers to the point she thinks it's normal, but so many people were mocking her for the harmless things she did like wearing colorful clothing and being loud that in the end it likely further alienated her from healthy adults and chased her further into the waiting arms of said groomers, they see situations like these as opportunities and lurk around for a chance to pounce

Maybe, maybe not. Your logic is based on really good intuition but it could also be false. Just cus she groomed a bunch of kids, doesn’t necessarily mean she groomed every single kid she met or Jojo. Imo, I bet she chose her targets carefully because she was too famous not to. Then again, you are probably right, she probably did a few grooming tactics on Jojo but never actually engaged in anything sexual so that makes Jojo think nothing happened. Then again maybe something did. Who knows, maybe even child predators have a certain type they go for and she just didn’t like Jojo. Gross to think about, I just think weirdos are really unpredictable asf sometimes.

I was there just playing games and be a mentor to his school and problems that he needed help with. Now he is an adult and we're like brothers. Even if you don't have any bad intentions I still suggest to act in a way that won't seem questionable with a minor.

She told me about all of the things they did to her and all the times she had to wear jackets during the summer to keep her family out of trouble. How she had to beg her parents to give her her door back so she could have a friend over. I was fucking horrified. It's the same exact thing. Then later on, when it's finally brought to their attention that they're being mistreated and likely have always been mistreated, theres a wall they need to break down to really have it click. Sometimes it breaks, sometimes it doesn't, but when it finally gives and reality hits, it hits like a motherfucker. I went through the same thing when I learned my dad was a...bad person towards children and women. Took three years until that wall broke down.

It's in their best interest to act nice in certain areas while their victim gets the short end of the stick. They count on people they were "nice" to to only see that part of them. It's not so far from pdf-files or psycho serial killers like BTK that have families to blend in to society. Quite a few don't value their family like they should, but will use the "I have a wife and kids" as a defense.... while they're sitting across from Chris Hansen. A little off topic but my other fav TCAP defenses are "what?? she's 15? I read the age wrong" and "I just wanted a friend" - who just happens to be a middle-school aged girl and I'm 56). has anyone considered that jojo intentionally phrased it the way she did because 1: this is her childhood inspiration to start her youtube channel, which led to her present day success. this is a tough situation for her. 2: her saying it’s lies is because that’s what she’s been always told. she’s still processing this information and is very likely one of the people who were groomed. 3: she’s grieving the loss of a close friend. jojo is now 20, so they’ve been in contact for 8 years. currently she is in the stage of denial, which is healthy. 4: she has constant pressure from the media during a very stressful time of her life. 5: listening to her talk about how they met, she sounded like she might even blame herself. obviously jojo isn’t at fault in any way here, but she might have survivors guilt on top of all of this. regardless, she is in serious need of a good therapist.

To give her a small benefit of the doubt, Jojo was used and groomed by like every adult in her life from a very young age until the present. Her idea of what’s appropriate and normal is definitely going to be fucked up because of that. Saying “we were friends when I was 12” is so close to understanding the point, but she just misses it. However, at some point she’s going to need to re-examine her upbringing and the adults involved in her life in order to see how they affected the way she currently views what is healthy and normal.

@@ryanthompson3737exactly. This is Jojo’s _normal._ she’s had hundreds of adults since she was only 4-5 treating her as an adult & friend. She’s still too young and hasn’t grown enough or matured enough to realize the huge maturity differences even from 16-18. She just quit dressing & acting like a child 2 years ago lol. So her maturity mixed with what she’s lived with literally her entire life is going to make it very hard for her to see this as wrong. Plus she’d have to look at every adult she grew up with and still talks to, which would make this an extremely hard process for her. One no one should expect her to be able to do in the month or so since this Colleen shit happened. So people should just correct her with empathy and realize she’s a victim with a victim mentality and thinking.

I mean just from personal experience, when you’ve been in those types of situations, it tends to take you a while to realize just how bad it is, and you tend to defend your own groomer because after awhile, you develop an attachment to them. Like obviously, we don’t really have any indications Colleen groomed JoJo, but I don’t know, something about hearing Jojo say that just kind of makes me worry, and Im so glad Penguinz just called it like it is. It's like naming a team the Epstein Islanders... at the end of the day it's just a name, but there's a negative history that spits right in the face of the victims, especially as they make billions in revenue while the victims still struggle. For example, the redskins are bad, but the Clevland Indians have a more complicated history because they hired the first native American. Of course the issue is whether it was meant to honor or mock that player... if it was to honor, it would not have been changed.

As a former prosecutor, this is what grooming looks like. It doesn’t have to be sexual in nature, and Colleen has clearly groomed Jojo. Also, it doesn’t excuse Jojo’s statements, but it does show how powerful grooming can be. You can see the internal struggle when Jojo is speaking, like she’s starting to realize that there is no rational way to defend Colleen … but, then, she still reverts to her original position that Colleen is being unjustly persecuted. There’s also a sense of her worshipping Colleen.

It's almost fascinating to watch her defend Colleen. You can clearly tell that Jojo was groomed her entire life and doesn't realize or understand that fact. She's a victim herself who was born and bred in an environment that constantly preps her to be someone else. It's been normalized because that's all she's ever experienced/seen from the adults within her circle. I think she needs therapy, or at least an awakening, because at the rate she's going, she will eventually turn out to be another Colleen and continue the cycle.

It might not even necessarily been that she was groomed like Colleen’s other victims. I think brainwashed might be a better way to put it, she might not have had anything done to her specifically but clearly something went wrong since she thinks most of this is normal.

Groomed may possibly be the word. She’s a child star though so it makes sense. She’s had adults all around her her whole career trying to get close to her or control her I’m sure. She’s probably the worst person so be defending someone like this. I mean they’ve been friends since she was 12… Which just adds more sticks to the fire.

For those unaware, JoJo is 20. Colleen is 36. When JoJo was 12, Colleen was 28. Now, in Colleen’s “defense,” she doesn’t seem to really be doing illegal things like demanding sexually explicit photographs. She’s just… being weird. Sending sexually provocative things to children? Also super weird. Also super gross. Also super creepy. But if it’s not explicitly sexual or nudity, it’s _technically_ not a crime. Being a weird and creepy person won’t necessarily get you arrested, but it is totally enough to get you deplatformed and booed off the internet, as it absolutely should. So, calling her a groomer may not be totally accurate, but that doesn’t make her suddenly innocent of being an absolute creep.

the fact that she went on there and said all that with such conviction is so messed up esp for the victims, She should lose her platform for that, shes now a threat to children. One defending a predator deserves to lose their public voice.
