Defending the Crown | Behind the Scenes of My 2022 Season

’Heavy is the head that wears the Crown’ is a full length behind
the scenes documentary film, following my 2022 season. Coming into the season the
goals were all set.
At first everything more or less seems to go as planned, but that soon changes with a broken
hand just weeks before Red Bull Joyride.
To top it off - during the final run in Australia, were I could have secured The Triple Crown,
I get knocked out in a crash.
This put me in a situation where I need to win the last competition, in just four weeks time to secure the both The Triple Crown and the World Tour Title.
The film focus on what it takes to be on top and what it takes to stay there, even when nothing
seems to go your way. The mindset, the willpower and the hunger to overcome.
We want to inspire others that with hard work and determination you can achieve great things.

There’s no doubt whatever that you are good at your chosen career, but how much you love it is shown when you show us the footage of practice and of having good times with your friends at the bike park and in the woods. It just oozes out of you how much you adore riding bikes. May you ride your bike for as many years as you want. All the very best to you, my favourite lanky blond mountain biker!

As someone who is dealing with an injury since a couple of weeks, this video is truly inspirational
I've always told people that you are the best slopestyle rider ever because of how hard you work and this film just shows every bit of it. You have and always will be my favorite rider.
Followed you amongst the other riders the entire 2022 season and boy was it an emotional journey, not to mention how you must have felt throughout. The last words "I feel like I'm just getting started" has a very nice ring to it and I hope its true. History being made! Also using Gonza-Ra in the whistler edit was amazing to say the least, it went HARD.

At least currently, he is the best in the world. The competition has no chance against him. I feel pitty for people like Erik Fedko who are always second or third.

Huge inspiration! Last season I had the same problem where I broke my tibia/fibula in a motor cross crash. Had to race DH a couple months later with my bones not fully healed but with it being held together with screws. It just goes to show how much you’re willing to push without giving up!🤘🏽❤️

The level of commitment shows such professionalism towards what you love to dude 🤟🎶 Slope style has progressed manically over the years ....I remember watching an interview with John Cowan and how he radially designed the Whistler course.... looking at the latest courses, back then it probably would have been too dangerous to ride.... a massive cheers to you Emil for the progression you have given slope style 🕺✨

I didn't think your broken arm was that serious... that you suffered, with a hand, the same as everyone else. Sometimes it seems that you, Emil, feel everything differently: speed, tension, danger, fear, pain, and even relaxation and rest.
