Using an MSI BIOS, I show how to setup your PC to get ready for better gaming performance. In this video I go over: CPU Boost, XMP, USB, Power, and NVMe Settings
While each motherboard manufacture has their own BIOS style, they all include similar settings. This is on an MSI z490 Gaming Edge Wifi Intel 10th and 11th series CPU.

I had subscribed, and then saw there's been no additional content for 6 months. Great editing, great audio, pleasant English voice, and well structured chapters. I'm going to stay subscribed, and hope to be notified of future content. You're sorely missed, my man!

can't say the same for myself, but this is likely possible due to my anxiety of this stupid little situation messing with me right now. i probably need a new some kind of fan, but i thought that maybe it could be fixed by messing with with my BIOS and adjusting my fans speed. because my damn PC will restart when i play any demanding game, i think it's over heating, because i can make my room really cold and it will run just fine, but if it gets warmer the damn thing reboots while i play and that gets super annoying.

I know this is an older video but a bit of advice. The overclock profile from these companies often runs with some very high voltages. I would HIGHLY recommend doing some stress testing while monitoring the temps to make certain your temps are reasonable. High temps can lead to your cpu thermal throttling; leading to worse performance and shorter lifespan.

Everyone has their own liking for setting up fan curves, but what I did was set the CPU fan curve and one fan port curve to match. Then used a 4 pin PWM fan controller that I hook up all my fans then hook the controller up to that one fan port on the board. As the CPU fan rises so does all the other fans to match. I know some claim negative air flow is best, but for me I'd rather have zero air flow restriction as much as possible... but that's just my opinion.

Dont forget that you need to run your FCLK at half your memory bandwidth example (3733Mhz 1867 FCLK) if you're using a ryzen CPU. Help! I turned on CPU window below GAME BOOST, enabled "USB STDBY POWER @ S4/S5 and enabled "RESUME BY USB POWER"...saved and exit. I got a blue screen, it says: Your device ran into a problem and needs restart. We are collecting error info and then we will restart". Stop code: Clock_Watchdog_ Timeout. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks

Just shooting my shot here in the comments since I can't find a single post about it online, but is there a reason you have hyperthreading on but "per-core hyperthreading" disabled instead of enabling it on all cores?

After running game boost mode in BIOS, I get computer A2 error. The computer does not turn on. When I restart the computer, it says A2 on the motherboard, and when I turn it off and on again, the computer turns on. My motherboard is z790 carbon wifi. What do you think is the reason why I get the A2 error every time I turn on the computer for the first time? Thank you.

Hi! I'm about to build a system with an i5 12400. My concern is the TDP, as I have read that MSI likes to mess with Intel's default TDP's. Do I choose power limits when I'm selecting the cooler type? My parts aren't here yet, so I don't know what TDP's will show for Tower Air Cooler, but is it safe for TDPs to be over Intel's defaults (TDP1 65w, TDP2 117w)?

I never update my BIOS but now I want to instal windows 11 and I must update my bios. I prefer to build a system for a specific play resolution of adequate power/quality running stock that I don't need to stress components with overclocking. I also build them so I don't have to touch/upgrade them for their designated lifetime of use (or beyond to whoever will end up using it when I move to my next system). I'm currently building a 1440p system this month, & retiring my still-rocking 1080p 2019 gaming build system. My 1440p build will pair the efficient little powerhouse Ryzen 9 7900 12C/24T GPU with the cool, quiet running ASUS TUF version of the 7800 XT, since those two are a great pair for a no-bottleneck robust 1440p gaming system.

My msi b450 max setup my 3.6ghz cpu to 4.4 ghz by default and in the OC option i set the ram to its speed. The problem is the cpu ran fine but in games was jerky until i changed the cpu to 3.6 ghz and let turbo do all the overclocking. I don't use xmp and my ram run at 3200mhz what it's rated for. It also reports 3200mhz in task manager. So no, you dont need xmp at least on my mobo. The systen is now stable and doesn't overheat. For some reason mobo manufacturers set your cpu to run at their highest speeds and burn out your system.

THERE IS A ISSUE WITH SOME BIOS BEWARE!!!! Always boot after enabling XMP back into the bios and check IO SA or on 12th gen intel VDDQ. Some bios grossly over compensate well over 1.25sa or even higher vddq. IO voltage or vccio is rare to overshoot but can happen. Always check

Only enable XMP for DDR5 ram if you have I think 4 sticks of it and enable xmp intel currently has problems with that and reports of not booting as the changes they’ve made to memory must be causing issues so wouldn’t personally push it past rated speeds unless your lucky so just be careful as DDR5 is really fussy at the moment
