I love this band. They are the epitome of brotherhood. Drummer lost arm in car crash. They did not replace. Waited for him to recover and figure it out. Lost one to alcoholism. They still carried on. The newer member ( took place of super blonde one that died) got cancer. They waited around for him to get better. Did not replace. They are amazing. Love mostly the early stuff. Not the typical band that just replaces members when they have a crisis or they have issues.

Steve Clark is an amazing guitarist with incredible riffs, classically trained. He passed away in 91. Rick Allen lost his arm in a car accident and while in the hospital he figured out how to keep playing drums in the band, no one rushed him and he is still rocking💖

In case you guys were wondering, after his near fatal car accident in the mid '80s, Rick Allen had to have a custom built drum kit to compensate for his missing left arm!! He now uses his right arm and both feet(barefoot, BTW) to create the necessary sounds that his left arm would have made.

  • @vernhoke7730

The opening of this song was created by Mutt Lang as the guys would screw around during recording. Instead of counting off to get them started he did the weird 4 word count, the band loved it and put it on the studio recording. During concert the drummer Rick Allen does it.

What I remember about the group, the drummer his arm in a massive car wreck. The label was pushing to have him replaced - the group took a year off to give time to recover. Spending their own money and helped design a drum set - digital drum pad and drum machine to aid in the limitations of having only one arm. I admire their loyalty to their drummer, even though I am not a big fan of their songs.

Def Leppard is just legendary! The drum kit looked the way it did because Rick Allen lost his arm in a motor accident at the end of 1984. After leaving hospital, he want to his local drum store to try out various pads to allow him to replicate his drumming using his feet and his remaining arm. For many, he became a better drummer. The the drum sound in the Hysteria album sounded much fuller compared to the previous ones.

In the round meant a round stage in the middle of the arena, rather than the conventional stage at one end of it. And I want more cow-bells Rick.

Rumor has it during Rick’s drum solo Steve Clark and the others would go backstage to “entertain” the ladies.

Def leppard were absolute sonic masters.. They had a way if making everything sound so huge without computers. They were ahead of thier time for sure .. also... My favorite guitar is my Phil C signature Ibanez Destroyer, its an absolute beast..

The drummer plays the snare with his left foot and triplets on the pads to get the drum rolls in. There hit Photograph was a drum machine so when he learned to perform live on the next albums it sounded like the drum machine kit but him playing it this time.

The first two albums On through the Night and High 'n Dry were actually quite heavy. Then they got much more commercial. But as former Iron Maiden guitarist Dennis Stratton said: They are probably grinning all the way to the bank!
