Def Leppard Rock Of Ages Guitar Lesson - Steve Clark And Phil Collen

Музыка

In this lesson I demonstrate how to play the song Rock Of Ages by Def Leppard. This is a great song to learn off of the album Pyromania. There are some really cool guitar riffs from Steve Clark and Phil Collen on this tune, and the production from Mutt Lange is amazing. There is a lot to learn in the structure of the song as well and how it is all pieced together to make a masterful song that has stood the test of time and still sounds fresh to this day.

I remember my friend in grade 7 showing me this song on his stereo, I was hooked on Def Leppard then. Nice “Satch” Ibanez there, I love the color. He should play my favorite “Satch” song “Flying in a blue dream” on one like that. That song sends shivers through my bones. Definitely my favorite Satriani song ever.

@@Ranch5150SkinWalker I also love “The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing”. I wonder if you would know what Joe used to get that really fat, edgy, crisp tone that he used for the rhythm intro to that song ? I’ve always wanted to find a way to get that tone.

Such a killer tune. I believe Phil only did the Photograph and Stage fright solos on the record so this song is Steve Clark and Pete Willis

I think you’re correct. That ending lick in the photograph solo sounds like Phil. This lead sounds more like Steve to me, especially the intro. And the rhythm parts. Loved Steve Clark.

Pete Willis actually wrote Stage Fright. That was the song that got him removed from the band. He came in to the studio and was to wasted to play, and was told to go home and sleep it off by Mutt. The guys did not take it to kindly and spoke amongst themselves and we all know the rest. Joe and Steve had Phil replace him. All the songs had been wrote as well. Pete is on all the backing tracks as he wrote other songs on that album also.
