"Hysteria" is a song by English rock band Def Leppard. It is the tenth track on their 1987 album of the same name and was released as the album's fourth single in November 1987.
The song became the bands first top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 10.
Lyrics:
Out of touch, out of reach, yeah
You could try to get closer to me
I'm in luck, I'm in deep, yeah
Hypnotized, I'm shakin' to my knees
I gotta know tonight
If you're alone tonight
Can't stop this feeling
Can't stop this fight
Oh, I get hysterical, hysteria
When you get that feelin', do you believe it?
It's such a magical mysteria
When you get that feelin', better start believin
'Cause it's a miracle, I see you will, ooh babe
Hysteria when you're near
Out of me, into you, yeah
You could hide, it's just a one way street
Oh, I believe I'm in you, yeah
Open wide, that's right, dream me off my feet
Ah, believe in me
I gotta know tonight
If you're alone tonight
Can't stop this feeling
Can't stop this fire
Oh, I get hysterical, hysteria
When you get that feelin', do you believe it?
It's such a magical mysteria
When you get that feelin', better start believin
'Cause it's a miracle, I see you will
Oh, babe
Hysteria when you're near
Come on
I gotta know tonight
If you're alone tonight
Can't stop this feeling
Can't stop this fire
Oh, I get hysterical, hysteria
When you get that feelin', do you believe it?
It's such a magical mysteria
When you get that feelin', better start believin
'Cause it's a miracle, I see you will
Ooh, babe (oh, can you feel it?)
Ooh, baby (do you believe it?)
Oh, I get hysterical, hysteria, hysteria
When you get that feelin', oh baby, better believe it
'Cause it's a miracle, I see you will
Oh, babe
Say you will
get closer, babe
(Oh) baby, get closer, closer to me
(Gettin' closer, gettin' clloser) closer to me

If she ever reads this - Thanks Jen for putting yourself out there to make this movie. I never imagined the stuff created back then would still bring so much enjoyment to all of us still decades later. And like with the Hysteria song, we made things back then only thinking of then. It's incredible that it's still so good now. And popping up in Top Gun 2 was fantastic.

It's amazing, isn't it? All the ways to be connected to others these days and yet it seems like we've never been as disconnected as we are today. You can feel that disconnect in a lot of mainstream modern entertainment. There's gems buried in the dirt, but like you pointed out, there's never been as much screaming for our attention as there is today. When you see Paul Bettany talk about his wife Jennifer Connelly, you can hear a man who realizes the pricelessness of having made the kind of solid connection with someone that we all crave. Even as a very young kid I had a crush on her from Labyrinth, I find it reassuring to know she and Bettany are happy together. They say there's someone for everyone. I dearly hope that's true. Makes me think of the Coldplay lyrics, "You were an island and I passed you by/ you were an island to discover." I hope the majority of us realize our chances for discovering our "islands" for what they are when they're happening.

Well said my friend…..I feel exactly the same 👍
I knew I would miss the 80’s but I didn’t think I would miss it as much as I do. Growing up in that era was the most genuine and real I’ve ever felt in my life. No texting no email no social media. Everything came from the heart.

Am I the only one who still gets short of breath looking at her??
I watched Connelly in Maverick last night and her allure is still there. It's her eyes...her gaze expresses intensity, beauty, comfort, and intelligence at the same time. Truly a timeless and priceless woman. Of course this era of Def Leppard hits that nostalgia soft-spot super hard, too. Kudos.
Connelly is so gorgeous it hurts.
Jennifer Connelly, the perfect creature😍
We use to drive 50-100 miles, three or four times a week playing summer baseball under the lights until 11 pm -to midnight, get in car and drive home. It was our junior and senior year, we had all known each other for ten years or more. This was our favorite album to drive to. Five to six of us in car with girls just rockin' out, full of life without a worry in the world. We didn't care, win or lose, just kick arse as hard as you could, sweat and bleed for each other and just the love of ball. It was the best time of our life, the memories are great but OMG I miss it so much. I have chills listening to this thinking of then.
Smart, talented, and very charismatic on screen. What's not to love?
The 1980 /early 90 where the best time of my life almost 61 and really do miss it 2024 sucks

Always "miss" what you can't have. Be happy that you're even alive at this point.
I had that experience when I was young. The magic of being young.
I was in high school when this album dropped and it was by far the biggest rock album at that time. Just about every track... Pairing this song with Jennifer is brilliant. Girls like her definitely evoke hysteria.
Miss those days....80's best decade ever. 100% my 80's crush she was.
I got divorced in 1987 while stationed in Montana working in the ICBM Minuteman Missile Fields 12th and 564th, I was 19. Wife could not handle the separation and it was rough, this came out at that time, and this song is something I cherish to this day. Lord I miss the 80's....

Ironically back in 1987, this song was played constantly at the skating rink near where I went to school. I remember because I was 16 and it was the first time a girl had reached out and held my hand. :) Good memories from a better time when there were no cell phones to keep people separate.

1980-87 one hell of a decade glad I was a lucky teenager to have experienced it nothing but good memories and Good times
This is a great song with the power of the feeling come through loud and clear. Jennifer Connelly has to be in the top ten most beautiful women in America, along with Linda carter, and... well, you fill in the blank. She is even more amazing now and she is the real thing. Her acting is as good as any one in her field. Captivating... 😛😍
Always loved Jennifer from first time ever seeing her = I’m now 53 so I’m sure those days are gone
Jennifer Connelly is and has always been such a beautiful woman!

Just after the eighties, it was called the "age of excess". Looking back now, it was a much more innocent, carefree time than we could have realized compared to 2000 and after. Social media and 9/11 changed everything.

2024 Jennifer is still a looker but 1980's Jennifer! No girl was hotter!
Ok….I swear if there were a prettiest girl in the world contest, she would be extremely difficult to beat. Stunningly beautiful.
Another 80s song set to a Jennifer Connelly in Career Opportunities? Yes, please
That girl in that moment ... The most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
I am still mesmerized by her even today.
This is what we fight for : knowing we are not alone , inspired by the beauty of each other , the human connection and the adventure of life with that connection . Alone sucks . Don't be alone , heartbreak hurts but the experience of connection , dreams , hopes and adventures with each other is more than worth it !
Such a great flashback to the 80s! Never gets old seeing Jennifer Connolly in that movie.
The 80s and 90s just had a different feel, and it felt much better. I feel nostalgic for those days, I'm doubtful I'll be nostalgic about the 2010s-2020s, at least the era.
She was f'in PERFECT...
Was in the Marines when this album came out, tons of women, lots of partying, great memories!
Def leppard, COOL Jennifer Connelly🎸🎸🎸🎤🤘😘🌹😍
Funny how fast time passes us by. Haven't heard any Def Lepard in decades11 :) Classic rock band. No more like them today...we're in a "dark ages" (mega band members retired or passed away)....filled with Reality Show winners...and a few "known artists" still working part-time....in music and film...
She is by far and away the most beautiful woman to ever be in a movie. Even up till 2024.

Love Jennifer Connelly then and now forever !!
She is so gorgeous!
Def Leppard has a winning combination so rare in Rock today. After over 40 years, they are still a headline band and can still fill arenas. Not too shabby for some poor kids from Sheffield. After they became Superstars, they returned to their home town and put on a free concert as a way to thank everyone who believed in them. Joe Elliot - Lead Vocalist can still hit the high notes, Phil Collen - Lead Guitarist still has serious licks at his fingertips, Rick Allen - Drummer plays better with 1 arm and 2 legs than many younger with all 4 limbs, Rick Savage - Bass, and Vivian Campbell - Rhythm Guitar has not lost his touch. Much respect for bands that have stayed together.
Боже,не могу остановиться слушать эту песню и в 2024-м снова и снова!Суперхит на все времена!!!❤❤❤
