Deerhunter - Desire Lines (Live on the Interface)

Музыка

when you were young
and your excitement showed
but as time goes by
does it outgrow
is that the way things go
forever reaching for the goal
forever fading black
comes a glow
walking free
come with me
far away
every day
when you were young
you never knew which way to go
what was once gray
no undertones
well every day do what you can
if you let them turn you round
whatever goes up
must come down
walking free
come with me
far away
every day

Halycon Digest is one of my favorite albums of all time. I could listen to it over and over again and never get sick of it. The way the songs fade together, the way the mood changes throughout the album... it's pure bliss. It's genius. It expresses a deep feeling I have that I cannot put into words

what makes this song so hypnotic and amazing is that the second half instrumental section has a 5 measure bass line mixed in with patterns of 4, and 4 measure intervals - the clashing of those rhythmic elements makes it more interesting

that's definitely the best part of the song. But I'd argue it's also the repetition of those simple licks and the increasing intensity of the instrumental piece (drums, distortion, effects and changing licks) that makes it reach towards a climax.
