  • @YZJY

    @YZJY

    The pressure at the bottom is only around 7 atmospheres. That isn't bad as you will equalize on the way down. Suddenly all at once, it would do some damage, but on a slow descent and ascent, you'd be ok. The dangerous part is the time at depth limit and nitrogen absorption. Going to the bottom 200 feet / 60 meters will require decompression on the way up. At that depth, your tank isn't going to last but a few minutes, if that, depending on the tank size, your breathing, and how highly it was pressurized. You still run the risk of getting decompression sickness going under 42 meters. /138 feet. They will have to have rest/decompression areas at intervals along the ascent with an unlimited air supply to ensure everyone's tanks last until they surface and allow for N2 outgassing to prevent decompression sickness during ascent. This is way out of the realm of normal open water no-decompression diving. The normal depth limit is 40 meters. This is 50% more than that. The freedivers won't have a problem with decompression, although they might suffer shallow water blackouts, which are bad news in the water. The SCUBA divers will have to take extra measures to ensure a safe dive. This pool will need to have special training for people to enjoy it safely. I hope they don't have any accidents there. In clear freshwater, it's easy to go deeper and spend longer than you intended, especially with so many distractions to look at during the dive.
