I loved building the original kit when it came out, absolutely no complaints about it. The detail is wonderful. You've got me tempted to relive a happy childhood, but with very adult airbrushing and electronics!

I’ve learned so much about building these Star Trek kits buy watching all your videos, you do a great job. 👍👍👍 When I started building models again I wanted to try to get everything perfect but i learned my skills aren’t quite that good lol. The most important thing is enjoying yourself while building. And put things aside when you get frustrated lol (RIP 1/350 refit, not cheap in Aussie dollerydoos either 😩)

I got the photo etch which includes the windows to use as guides

Actually you can use the window decals and use them as a guide to light the windows by using a drill bit on each to clear the paint away. And if you do the exterior white or silver on the habitat ring then do the light blocking any LED's you have in the promenade should be able to travel through the spokes of the habitat ring and shine in those areas.

I'm utterly impressed. Tempted strongly to buy a kit of ebay.... But.....so many other kits I want on there 😂

Nice work so far! I was hoping we'd see you light up the entire model but I realize something like that would require a lot of extra time and planning.

Seeing this with the Obsidian Order's Keldan Class cruiser was a nice bonus. I am disappointed that these smaller ships are not in scale to the station, so If I ever get around to getting it done with all the ancillary craft, they will be on stands at a distance to correct the scale. Great Video by the way!

you can literally see that the arms are slightly arched down from the habitat ring to the pylon ring in the DS9 Opening Intro.

I built the original amt version way back when (still have the original fibre optic version in stash ) I know there is a photo etch set for drilling the holes from paragraphics I'll have to get someday soon & replace the bulbs with LEDs , I know polar lights sometimes tweak the molds to fix a few issues hopefully they did it on the smaller ports ( you could fly a starship through some of the gaps in the parts 😥90's kits) will dig my reference materials outta storage if I get the kit

If I were to light it up I would use LEDs for the main part of the station and use fiber optics for both of the rings and all 6 pylons

Why didn’t you do the scratch the paint off instead of drilling? Boyd over at Trekworks and Ken Spriggs both show how to “not drill” for lighting on translucent models.

What about using the window decals to guide you drilling the windows out?

Does this model come with the mini Ezri and Jadzia Dax figures?

Shame the Starships aren't the same scale. For some reasons people always paint DS9 the wrong colour.

I'm confused, you keep talking about drilling holes, but it's a clear kit. Why would you need to drill any holes?

If I've learned anything about modelers is that many of them like to complain about everything

How wide is it? Is it bigger than the old one, is playmate version bigger.
