Deep River Thru-Paddle: Episode 3 -- In the Groove

It took a little longer to get there, but I feel like we finally settled into the groove for the trip. The river didn't want me to get too comfortable though and reminded me she was still in charge. What an amazing, exhausting, and rewarding trip. Now on to the next one!

All those portages were more fun to watch than to do. I’m glad you came out mostly unscathed from the log. You are absolutely right about how quickly things can go from fine to deadly.

They were type II fun for sure! It was a great experience but something I can confidently say I'm only going to do once.😄 Thanks for watching!

Great one Austin. As usual, outstanding camera work and edit. As you may recall the story, your incident with the log is exactly the circumstance Brenda found herself in on the Noli. Her experience awarded her a net gain of about ten stitches. Looking forward to your next release! AVA Brian

Man I travel down that river all the time (not the whole thing just parts) i have family land in Moore county that buts up to it. I love this river there is so much history. The reason it’s called the “deep river” is because of the deep banks as you mentioned. So cool to have seen the whole river. God is good thanks for sharing.

Each dam we came to, I always tried to think of the story and the people behind it. There's so much history in this area that is forgotten but it's what built the country around it...humbling and exciting all at once. And yes, those banks are DEEP. Trying to find a spot to get out was often a challenge. Thanks for watching!

I have enjoyed all 3 of these episodes. I live in the High Falls/Bennett area and I have done part of the Deep River above the Howards Mill Bridge area. These videos would have been more enjoyable if you had shown the map more and had labeled all of the road and railroad bridges as points of location.

I put the maps in where it seemed to fit the story line, with the purpose of just showing general locations and progress on the river. Thanks for watching!
