Deep River Thru-Paddle: Episode 1-- Lakes, Dams, and Rapids...oh my!!

They say sometimes you don't have to look far for an adventure. Well this trip was no exception. Right in North Carolina's backyard sits the Deep River, running from it's headwaters near Winston-Salem 120 miles southeast to the Cape Fear River. We set out to paddle the river in its entirety...a feat which no one we knew had ever attempted. What we found was a hidden gem nestled in a part of the state that is often forgotten and some very, very good times!

Thanks' Guy's! And thank you Austin for posting the detailed equipment list. Currently 24deg. with overnight low of 11deg. so it will be a couple of months before I'm back on the water... That's okay, I'm using the down time to equip a new boat (touring) for this spring. I've got lots of great new lakes I can explore Palisades, Teton, Yellowstone... COME ON SPRINGTIME! In the meantime, I'll ride along with you guy's.

That intro montage was really good! I’ve watched the same adventure from all 3 of you now and it honestly feels like 3 different adventures. Great video, Austin!

I like to think that even though our footage is from the same trip, we all have our different spin on things and different perspectives to keep it interesting. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!

Our crew HATES it when I leave the camera rolling while we are just milling around camp. Some of the comments and conversations that I have ha to hone my "creative editing skills" around would be priceless if I was a heartless man. LOL!

@@SideTrailAdventures Yes! That is one thing that I am trying to capture with our podcast, it is just a group of old friends sitting around a campfire, telling stories and shooting the bull. I’ve literally known Poe the shortest amount of time, and I met him in 1985. The other guys are the types of guys that you don’t remember not knowing. We have a lot of fun. Once we get this thing rolling a little better, we plan to try to do some shows with guest appearances… would you be interested?

There's not many Kayak adventure channels that are almost as good as The River Kings channel. Unfortunately you ruined the potential of you're own video by saying 'good Times' about 47 timedyin the first 20 minutes. I had to stop watchin as I couldn't take hearing 'good Times' one more time. That annoying idiosyncrasy spoilt it for me.

Well to each his own. It’s a compliment to be “almost as good as The River Kings”. Thanks for watching!
