The guy with the voice that, if possible, sounds better than ever unlike most other rock singers. The legend...
Glenn Hughes is a legend. He’s 67 but he can still sing like he’s 20.
The guy is old as skeletor but can still sing like hes 20. A serious rock legend.

One of the most underrated musicians in rock.
The most of any persons character I admire, is honesty and Glenn has given me pride to be British, because honesty is a rare thing these days. Bless you Glenn !!!!!
Great interview Glenn's a legend.
I find it utterly astonishing with what Glenn puts his voice through, that you'd never know he is a lead singer, just talking to him. You'd expect his voice by now to be cracked and dry as a dusty bone, but no. And he's STILL got his midlands accent! Love ya Glenn.
Saw Glenn with Deep Purple on the Burn tour when I was very young. My dad took me. August 10th 1974? I still have the ticket somewhere. It was in the Astrodome, it was packed and Deep Purple were loud as fuck! Dio's band Elf opened, so I got to see Hughes, Coverdale and Dio all in one night. Not bad! Btw, Hughes worked the stage like a rock legend. Robert Plant has nothing on Hughes in the rock star frontman category.

Glenn's such a great musician and a true gentleman. I'd be glad to see him perform with Tony Iommi again
This is the stuff we have been wanting to hear about for years
Such a lovely soul is Glenn.
Glenn truly looks like he's been there, seen and done it all. It's amazing that he's still well and singing as good as ever. He has that "permanently stoned" thing, which is cool. But he's not slow or fucked up. A true survivor

Glenn is a special legend and the 🌎will never see another Glenn
The two vocalist thing was Ritchie's idea, and it led to a change in direction right at the time he was dealing with divorcing his second wife Barbel (Babs). Stormbringer was David and Glenn's record. Come Taste The Band was Tommy's album, with superb support from Ian Paice.
It's such a shame, cause Glenn should have been on the level with Ozzy and Ronnie James, but he was always the replacement voice. He should be as important as Ia Gillan or Ozzy, the guy deserves it.

Such a gentleman. What an amazing talent. Very gracious fellow.
Trapeze was a killer band too. They were funky , heavy and talented. They were like Humble Pie meets Judas Priest . And Glenn is the equal of Halford and Marriott , which is saying a lot

Glenn Hughes is unbelievable, as not only a bass player singer songwriter playing with deep purple hello, but he is so intuitive and really knows how to play the instrument.
Best voice in rock music.
Dude, I like Glenn Hughes, just watching this interview, he just seems awesome to be around
This is probably the only guy from that era godly-status kind, that still acts and looks fresh, not locked in the past like I'd say all of his contemporaries, even the way he speaks, its all about the attitude.
I was gonna say the same, probably one of the best interviews Loudwire has done. for all the shit he's done good and bad he just lays it out. Classy dude.

I read years ago that Paul Rodgers was approached about joining Deep Purple, but his response was that he didn't work with "temperamental guitar players" (referring to Blackmore) and that's how DP ultimately wound up with David Coverdale as a singer.

it's funny that a guy from Cannock, which is part of an area called The Black Country gets told by an american band that they came up with the name Black Country. Glenn is a legend! Great interview.
"I was overserved at the bar, if you will" Awesome
He did get to sing for Heaven and Hell that one show, it was good to hear him sing those songs in good form.
One of my favorite musicians ever. Hughes/Thrall is AMAZING!!!
I was at that show in Cleveland back in 86, me first Black Sabbath concert! Glenn was struggling with his voice, but it wasn't a bad show, I dug it. He and Tony should've toured Fused, that was a great album!
Great singer, great bassist!
The Great Glen Hughes..
I love mostly every Deep Purple lineup, but my favorite is and has always been the Mark 3 era. I love listening to both the Burn and Stormbringer albums, and all the live albums that this lineup did, especially Paris 1975 which was Ritchie Blackmore's last show with Deep Purple for almost ten years. Glenn Hughes is a phenomenal lead singer and bass guitar player and I love everything that he has done. There are some Black Sabbath fans that hate The Seventh Star album but I have always loved it and it was not suppose to be a Black Sabbath album but a Tony Iommi solo album. The record label made sure that the name Black Sabbath was on the album just to try and sell more albums because of name recognition. This was an awesome fact or fiction, and Glenn did not hold back at all.

“I was overserved at the bar”! Love it. Gonna buy this guy’s book.
The work Hughes and Coverdale did on their first Deep Purple album 'Burn' was simply phenomenal! They brought so much to a band that at the time, was almost completely burnt out.

Glen's such an amazing legend. Amazing talent and has still a very powerful dynamic voice after all these years. I also agree about Black Country Communion, they're probably my all time favorite super group and definitely a great live band. The live material available to watch is beyond impressive. The level Glenn sings at is very impressive to say the least but great music great songs great band. Its a magical chemistry of musicians and what they produced together is like if Deep Purple and Zeppelin had a baby I guess would be my personal translation of their stuff.

I got a lot of time for Glenn! As he certainly has been through a hell of a lot, particularly when addiction is involved, and his honesty is very admirable indeed. He is an inspiration, one hell of a singer...and an unsung bass player as when combined, singing and playing bass...he is UNBELIEVABLE!
extremely honest interview...... Very good.
Without sarcasm: a scholar and a gentleman!
A great interview and a class act all the way! Oddly enough, I first heard about Glenn when he sang on George Lynch's 1993 solo album Sacred Groove and did some background vocals on Motley Crue's self-titled album, and it was from there that I traced his roots back to Deep Purple and his stint with Black Sabbath.

I saw BS with Glenn on vocals (I was not a fan of GH's work in DP) and it was painful, and I'd never ever been to a concert before in a big arena where half the audience left in the first hour. YIKES. He's absolutely right that he wasn't right to sing ozzy or dio tunes.
Love Burn album as a kid and saw the California Jam on ABC one Saturday and became a big Hughes fan. All his DP solo BCC music. He's such a talented manthat not even 1% of those in music could touch him. He should've been bigger in US.

Thanks for speaking with Glenn and his honesty. By the way, I was really excited to see the Seventh Star tour after the great album, and I saw that unfortunate gig at Meadowlands in NJ. We were all hoping that Glenn would stop to sing cause he was struggling terribly. Many thanks to Glenn for clearing up the story behind this.
