When I was a kid watching older teenagers drunk wiggling around listening to this exact jam, I thought they were extremely weird. Then later I must have became "Weird!" too. Deep Purple "Smoke On The Water" got radio play, and a few other songs. They mostly got pigeonholed later as 'just another band', but I can remember "Deep Purple" logos everywhere. I mean everywhere. Bumper stickers, tags on buildings and signs, kids drawing "Deep Purple" on notebooks. I was the white kid playing basketball mostly listening to Motown. I'm probably still more Motown over Deep Purple, but I dig both now. It's hard to describe in a plain vanilla world how Deep Purple tags and identity made society shift, but I do remember Deep Purple fans didn't fall for the KISS nonsense.

I don't understand how we lost the appreciation of the organ in rock music. Before the rise of synths, many rock bands utilized the Hammond B3 organ to fill out their sound, it fell to the wayside around 1970 with the invention of the Moog synthesizer.

Hey Guy's, how about some good down home southern rock from a wonderful band from Spartanburg S.C. with the great flutist/vocalist Jerry Eubanks. This should have your toes tapping👞👠 "Take The Highway - Marshall Tucker Band" The Marshall Tucker Band helped to establish the southern rock genre in the early 70's and were well known for their infusion of blues, country and jazz which helped to establish a multifarious sound that was very creative and on par with another southern rock band with a similar sound; and were just as famous in the same time period, the Allman Brothers Band which used elements of blues, country rock and gospel rock in their music. Both of these bands were very entertaining and highly successful "jam bands." Both of these bands hold a special place in my heart.

Jon Lord is Lord of the keyboards
Love the sound of that Hammond
All time great album and total influence, like Zeppelin and Sabbath, on all hard rock and metal that came after. Everyone had that album, it often blasted out of Hot cars with super stereo sound systems. I Hope you do the whole album but Pictures of Home is an amazing deep cut and needs to be heard. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

Drums weren't slacking off either
THE WHOLE ORIGINAL ROCK METAL BAND IS FYYYRRRRRR YOU GUYS 💯 BUT THE WAY ( JON LORD & RITCHIE BLACKMORE ) PLAY OFF EACH OTHER IS INSANELYYYYY BEAUTIFUL! 😊
Phenomenal song. Now, try another hard driving tune, called Rat Bat Blue. Far less known, but to me, one of their best.
You must check out some of the history videos about the difficulties they ran into recording this album, like having their hotel burn down (and there was smoke on the water...).
BLUES-!
The keyboards sound like a guitar intentionally. He played through a guitar amp with distortion. :) RIP Jon Lord
They keyboard player Jon Lord played the organ through a Marshall guitar amp. A crunchier sound.
BURN! please....:)
Masterpiece
🔥🔥🔥
Not your standard 3 chord blues. It's 5 chord blues through 3 minor keys which keeps it less predictable. Great track by one of the greatest bands.
Swag on the organ .. wonder if we like the sound cuz of baseball imagine dude shredding this over the pa at the game ha
I’ve been waiting for you guys to get to this😀
Ah, music to my ears. I’m especially fond of their song Burn. It rocks.
No way y’all did this track! Shit is fucking incredible from start to finish. Y’all gotta react to The Doors albums, that’s my favorite band of all time
