Deep Purple is one of the great bands of all time. I've been listening to them since the mid-70's as a teenager, and I've always thought they were great. Awesome reaction! There is plenty more where that came from too. They have a deep repertoire.

Was fortunate to see Deep Purple MK2 live in 1973. Opening act was a band I'd never heard of. A 3 piece outfit from Texas named ZZ Top. Didn't pay much attention- was there to see Deep Purple. In between the band's the arena system played songs by Black Oak Arkansas and Black Sabbath Vol 4. The house lights went down and the stage lights went up as 5 guys walked out on the stage. No spandex, makeup or glitter. Pure rock from Highway Star through to Lucille. My first rock concert and it's said you never forget your first time.

Just found you JMan. I subscribe to many reaction sites. I rate them on their reaction to Child in Time. The fact you are familiar with radio play Deep Purple yet recognize the brilliance of this performance was very genuine. Really cool. If you like live performances move to Deep Purple “Burn” live at the California Jam. 1974 I believe. There a a ton of renditions of this band. They still tour today. Many different members. But I like the Blackmore era. Burn....lots of live stuff to delve into.

The crowd was asked to stay seated during the performance because it was being recorded for broadcast... check out speed king from the same show called doing their thing from 1970 you want to talk about energy. And then check out these songs by this great band highway star..space Truckin lazy..flight of the rat just to name a few..oh & burn..I believe Ian gillan was the best hard rock singer of his time.

Yeah, you need to go dig into Deep Purple. They didn't get the well deserved airplay they should've got that Sabbath and Zeppelin got, over here in the states. Yeah. Peace

I absolutely love Deep Purple, and Child in Time, in my opinion, os the best of their songs. I agree with Damian, studio versión is THE ONE. Have you heard about the band Thin Lizzie? Regards.

Check more in Deep Purple ("When a Blind Man Cries" and "Highway Star" .... and then into Richie's Band "Rainbow". Start with the song "Stargazer". One of my favorite bands.

It was Slash on the drums ( that’s why the song is called “Child In Time “) but seriously i saw Deep Purple in concert in Vancouver Canada around 1975 🤔and a new band called “Electric Light Orchestra” was the opening band, and they were so amazing ! the fans totally loved them, so much energy ! So when Deep Purple came on they played like shit, lots of boo’s from the crowd and we left early, and we all know how great a band called E.L.O. became famous

Though ELO were hardly 'new' in 1975. They'd been going for 5 years and had had several hits. Also, Blackmore had quit by 75, so Purple were in flux and probably not at their best. For me, a Deep Purple lineup without Glover, Gillan and Blackmore is not really Purple, even if the name was retained.

And the album version is better than this "talk show" version. But yeah, this band is just one of the big ones, slightly underrated at times. I assume you are familiar with Highway Star and of course Smoke on the Water, other good songs include Burn, Mistreated, Fireball, Speed King, Lazy. The first 2 with Coverdale on vocals.

Jean_louis Tardits Unfortunately here in the good old USA most people when asked don’t even know that they are the ones who wrote smoke on the water.. it’s all led Zeppelin U2 Van Halen Aerosmith and even Black Sabbath but it seems nobody knows deep purple even the critics don’t even talk about them. Thank God for bands like iron maiden Metallica Judas priest just to name a few who say that they are one of the most influential bands out there oh and Brian may of queen says Blackmore was there before any of us.

To the live audience members, please leave the comments and questions until the end. A conversation over the video is incredibly annoying and pretty much kills the point of a reaction video. How can he listen, appreciate and react to the song, if he's having a running conversation during it? Cheers! :)
