Deep Fried Cookies? Scandinavian Rosette Cookies | Swedish Rosettes!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Deep Fried Cookies! Today we are making a traditional Christmas Cookie! The Scandinavian Rosette Cookies! Some people also call these a Swedish Rosette, or a Norwegian Rosette! All of those names are correct! This is a traditional, simple deep fried cookie! To make these cookies you will need a Rosette Iron! I have listed a few of them below. We bought a set from Nordic Ware. Don't let this recipe scare you! This was our FIRST time attempting to make these cookies, and everything turned out perfect!
Ingredients:
2 eggs
2 tsp Sugar (yes I know I said one in the video)
1 Cup Milk
1 Cup Flour
1/4 Salt
1 Tablespoon Lemon Extract
Vegetable Oil for frying
Powdered Sugar for decorating
Directions:
Lightly beat egg, stir in sugar, milk, and lemon extract. Sift together flour and salt, and add to mix. Lightly mix until creamy. Oil should be 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Dip iron into oil, and get it hot. Then dip it into the batter, but do not go all the way down, don't cover the top of the iron. Dip in oil until it finishes bubbling. Place on tray. Let cool, cover in powdered sugar. ENJOY!

Me either
Here in Sweden we dip the rounded side (opposite of what you did) into granulated sugar. If you dont eat them all you can freeze them and then heat up in oven before dipping in sugar.
I can´t explain enough but ohh how I love when Jess and Jamie cook and bake stuff. I keep rewatching episodes just because they are so chill and fun to watch. ^^
I use the exact same recipe except I switch out the milk and use water, and vanilla extract in place of the lemon extract. I've never heard of using lemon extract before but it sounds really good! These cookies come out the same whether you use milk or water, so if you have a sensitivity to dairy, use water :) Thanks for sharing :)
Hello and "God Jul" from Norway🇳🇴. I love to eat my "Rosetter" fild with vannilla gravy😊
My mom has made these forever. YUMMMMM!!!! Not Christmas without them
I watch all of your videos and i love food recipes for people thank you
I got an old iron from my Swedish grandmother and tried to make them one year. After about 10 tries I finally got one right. They are so good. Glad you did this video. Now I’ll have another recipe. 😊
I love these! My mom is Mexican & has been making these as long as I can remember. Had no idea they were of Scandinavian origin.

There's various kinds of these around. All over Europe and Asia and whatnot. Hard to know just where they originated.
These are so crunchy and awesome! And fun to eat. Here in Sweden they are called Struvor.

In Indonesia 🇮🇩 we called it "Kembang Goyang" or literally "Dancing Flower" named by it's cooking method "shaking" or "dancing" the mold in a deep frying pan
Oh I remember those Rosette cookies from my childhood. My friend's father was Norwegian and would make those to be given out as presents. Another good Christmas cookie from my Italian friends families are Pizzelli. They are made in a star shaped iron You might like those too.

I remembered pizzle cuz my mother was taught how to make pizzle and Italian Christmas cookies and hot pepper cookies !!!
That's a really cool way to make cookies!! I've never heard of those before. I could have watched the process for every single cookie too, just saying. Very neat, guys! Thanks for sharing!!
Yaaaaassss! I love this Channel, I am glad to see it's back, your recipes are so good and so fun to watch!!!
Mahalo! A friend is clearing things from her home and gave me a double rosette and timbale iron. I’m dumbfounded with this tool and am so glad you shared your first trials here. I’ll report back after my attempt. We forego the powdered sugar because it turns to mush in our humid climate. Once I get a handle on the cookie, I’ll tackle the extras. Thanks!!
Those are some pretty and delicious looking Scandinavian cookies. They certainly sound crunchy. 😋💕

Thise have got to be my favorite growing up. The Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth was the best place to get them. The restaurant had a bakery in the lower level.
Growing up in MN with Norwegian heritage we had these every xmas They’re pretty good 👍🏻
They lookreally good jess and Jamie
Finally, a new video on this channel! And that too with such a delicious looking treat. Jamie is such a talented cook. Is there anything he cannot do? Thank you for sharing and the husky duo are definitely the best helpers around.😀❤️👍
They look so good!!!
Awesome sauce! As you were mixing ingredients I couldn’t help but think of making French toast! 🙂 I always have trouble deciding should I measure then sift the flour, or sift THEN measure. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. Looks good. God bless.
Those look delicious. I've never heard of them or seen them, but I definitely want to try them.
This cookie is similar to Indonesian cookie. We called it "Kembang Goyang". So surprise that you also have a cookie like this 💕
That was fascinating to see how they’re made. I’m Swedish so I’ve had these every Christmas but I’ve never seen them being made. Next task for you 2 is Lefse. 😂😂 Only kidding.
I love the deep fried cookies
In Indonesia we called it "Kembang Goyang" or literally "Dancing Flower" named by it's cooking method by "shaking" or "dancing" the mold in a deep frying pan
Perfect crunch and they look absolutly delicious! 😍 Most sweds are eating them with granulated sugar instead 😍
Very popular in South Africa as well. My granny used to make the a lot but instead of powered sugar, she drizzled condensed milk over them.
Looks delicious, I've made those a numbers of years ago, haven't for a long time
good cookies
Wow, they look so fancy, yummy! Joan Bates
You triggered my sweet tooth lol. What a crunch lol. Adorable helpers.
Those look sooo good! I haven't had these in years...back when my grandmother would make them. Except she would have like this glaze drizzles: chocolate, orange and I wanna say lemon. Because we were "too messy for powdered sugar" haha memories. I might need to try and make these now. Mmm
I make these as well, but I add granulated sugar not powdered. They are delicious!
It's supposed to fall off. You are supposed to use wooden tongs to lift them out of the oil. Timbale is pronounced ( Tim- Ball). For the Timbale I make either an egg custard, coconut, coffee, or a lemon custard to fill them
I am swedish who is together with a dane and we both usually eat theese at christmas :D
In my family we make cookies like that but we called them buñuelos and as far as I know they are a Mexican treat
Hello from Sweden 🇸🇪
Those look, so nice and how you can hear the crunch!, now I am thinking of elephant ears.
I remember we had one of those coming out of the kid my mom said she got it for a wedding present but we never used it we never could figure out how to use it
A+ on the video content. Cookies look Good. Would you make them again?
🥺 I wish I could make one
I told my mom so e ingredients so she took a picture and we cooked them
I can make the recipe for my family
first i love yall
Do you taste the lemon from the lemon extract? wasnt sure how prominent that would be in the flavor.
The cookies look good 😋 ... I was going to say can u do some for the dogs but with dog friendly ingredients
Rosette cookies > eggnog or at least the eggnog tea I tasted. Yes, I know this without trying rosettes. 😎
Can you make some more videos on Snow Dogs cooking for people to see?
When I put the mold into the dough I had made during baking, a clot formed in the dough bowl. It's normal and the dough didn't stick to the mold at all. That's all right?
Hi!
I will always have Shiloh Shelby and Oakley in my heart.😔🥺😖💙
Tusen Takk 🇳🇴🇺🇸🇳🇴
You're supposed to gently shake off the excess batter before dipping into the oil...
Well guy's, if you are intrested in Nordic Arceology, Look at MrTell1 chanal he is an very serius metall detectorist and from Norway! He is finned, in viking things and ather old things from the smal coast villages and a vise man, knowing wat to do with his found! Great that you make "struvor"! If you serve them on aplate and decorate them with a "klick" of wiped cream and som kind of berry jam even cranberry, because of the sweetness of the cake it is a high pointer! God Jul och Gott Nytt År!
AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME. Thanks and a Merry, Merry, Christmas everyone and pupps. 💖 💚 💛 💜 💖
They look like you can squeeze jam in them to fill it.

You dusted them inside down, but they look delicious.
Looks good but to much work for me to stand there cooking each one, one at a time. Never had a Rosette.
Jamie looked so sad when you said you went making the first recipe. ☹☹☹
NORWEGIAN!!! That's almost danish. Norway is Denmarks big brother. Sweden is our weird middle brother. Come at me Sweeden I will fight you.
