    Excellent video and deep dive into biodynamics, organics, permaculture and lots of other topics. I think this video clearly explains the nuances and difference between all of these. It's amazing to see how a whole place can change so dramatically not only in the vineyard, but the surrounding environment. If more winemakers did only half of what Enrico Rivetto did it would make a huge difference in the quality of wine and counteracting the negative effects of climate change. On sulfites it was particularly interesting to see Rivetto explain that it's not just sulfites that make people ill, but rather the composite of what they eat and drink every day. Some wineries do have too much sulfites in their wines do. We had a Blanc de Noir Gran Reserva Cava that made both me and my wife uncomfortable and we drank a Blaufrankish/Kekfrankos Reserve from a famous Hungarian winery that kept us both us till 5 or 6 in the morning. So like Enrico Rivetto said, it's all about balance

    Yes, indeed. And I learn this more and more every day. It is all about the balance. I think we should talk more about it, as so many people argue that “some is good, therefore more must be better” which we all know, is not true! 😅

    So I was enjoying the interview and the donkeys and everything and I checked out Rivetto on our Norwegian state wine monopoly site, and the first thing my eyes land on is "Rivetto Barolo Etter Vinteren". "Etter Vinteren" Means "After the Winter" in Norwegian. I'm so confused! Why does a Rivetto wine have a Norwegian label name?! oO Edit: After some considerable digging, I found a little more information. Apparently, the label is artwork by a Norwegian artist and it's somehow tied to an "art wine of the year" award and a foundation. The foundation didn't tell me a whole lot more, nor did I find the bottle on any of the typical wine search sites that I use. Maybe there's a connection between the foundation, eco ideology and the Rivetto, I have no idea. It's "only" about 45 EUR so I think I'll have to buy it out of curiosity.

    In wine monopoly site you should find also my regular Barolo Rivetto Serralunga. The "etter Vinteren" is one of the wines which belong to a project managed from a group of entrepreneurs from Bodo and other cities to help young artists from the North. Every year they put a label on the bottles created by an artist. We were suppling some Barolo for that project for 5 years.

    @@NoSediment Well thank you for that. What an odd and wonderful coincidence this turned out to be. I even have strong family ties to the very place Rivetto refers to in that very gracious response. It never ceases to amaze me how small the world can be (online). Also, I can't believe you did that. You're kind of nuts, in the best way possible :D I'm definitely getting that wine, especially now that I have this cool story to go with it! Thanks again. I do believe this is you rocking. PS speaking of rock and the underrated Who: I claim that Daltrey's second scream on "Won't get fooled again" is the best scream in classic rock history.

    It shouldn't matter what the regular wine consumer understands. Put the information out, and wine consumers will learn and change.

  • @NoSediment

    @NoSediment

    But I think it is an issue, because some people might translate certain information the wrong way. For example, wines don’t have expiration dates on their bottles. And when Champagne houses (wanted to be more transparent) started to put a disgorgement date on the label people mistakenly took it as an expiration date. That was a loss for those Champagne brands, because naturally all the wines were “expired” when they reached the market. 😢😢😢

    @@NoSediment I'm sorry to brake the magic to you but there is no half way in science. If it's based in science it needs to be all of it, not just parts. We had a furious (and pretty ridiculous) fight in parlament in Italy a couple of years ago about this nonsense. We had to defend ourselfs against this magical crazy people because one of them was able to pass a law in parlament. That's why I can't stand these people anymore. I will listen the next podcast.
