Dee Why Grand 660Ls - Garbage/157

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this second part we see the garbage collection with old 157 getting loaded, not sure exactly how many bins are dumped, but I think it’s up towards the 20 mark. That’s me at the controls too, I liked to play a game with myself where I had to keep the packer constantly cycling... and failed pretty much straight away in this video haha Another big 28m JP5 just like unit 122 in part one, but this is an older model ACCO with a different engine sound, plus it has a Garwood bin lifter doing the work.

I’ve always wanted to do jobs like this with the truck revving its head off, echoing off all the walls in the loading dock, pumping through 660s. Absolutely wicked. How good is it having 660s/1100s too, simplifies things so much! Yet so many places like this get delivered 50+ 240s which does my head in! Watching this video makes me wish i was born 10 years earlier, would of been mad fun to work on these trucks! They’re set up real good too, nice quick packer and great lifter speed too. No bull shit sensors that stop the lifter whilst it’s packing too, speeds things up a heap! Can imagine you could pack a decent load in these JP5s too. Great pair of uploads as always Mitch, i’d be keen to see your own truck on the big screen soon, surely a video is already brewing with all those loading docks you’ve got…. :p

Oh yes, it sure is wicked! It's something else being there in person, the noise and feel is something else, a video doesn't do the real experience justice =] There are plenty of other units around Warringah that could've had bulk bins, but they were all built when it was still only side loaders doing collections. I don't get the logic of those certain councils which opt for that big quantity of small bins versus what is more practical, it's almost like a legacy issue sometimes. This truck 157 was slow as fuck when it first came in, but then they made it like this which was great, became a weapon, just how you want a rear loader to be! My truck will end up on KZread all in good time, definitely been contemplating collection points for optimal action shots, but I'm waiting for that cab visor to get attached before I capture anything, I'll also hang out for that paint job if it's going to happen - it'll be like videoing a brand new JP5! =P

Something about these loading dock jobs always satisfies. Idk if its the echo of the engine noise, the fact that it usually envolves fast paced emptying of a large collection of bins, maybe its as simple as the rotating beacon reflecting off the walls. Always entertaining. What was a full load of garbage on that monster of a body? Almost looks too big to not be a twin steer. I can relate about trying to keep the packer moving at a stop with many bins, trying to avoid that extra second or two delay caused by the engine spooling up from idle and the feeling of crushing defeat just missing it by a second.

I love the loading docks for each of those reasons you stated, but if I can add another, it's extra cool when older garbage trucks like this come alive indoors and dominate the area, compared to delivery vehicles which are quietly idling or turned off completely. These big 28m bodies are pointless for garbage unless indeed it's a twin steer chassis supporting it, you can get 10t on a 19m without trouble and that's already overloading on the gross weight. I know of a driver who did an apartments garbage run with a blue 28m at Cleanaway, it was normally done in two loads, but he did a Friday special and proceeded to get it all on in one hit, dumping 16t at the transfer station... he got in trouble over that one haha
