I absolutely love the idea of the background vocals being that of the mothers and grandmothers of the tribes passing down these songs and dances of prayers to the new generation of Miq'ote women, it's filled with such joy and the idea of cheering on the next generation to continue the traditions of the ones prior

My Miqo'te follows Menphina and I wrote a whole lore backstory full of godly nonsense to make it special. Her grandmother was a devotee of Menphina too, as is her mother. Very cutting edge stuff. :P

This line just screams "magical girl" and I'm living for it

What I love is the Triple Goddess (Mother Maiden Crone) within the song itself With it being about the Moon, and then mention "See I'm a woman grown enough for secrets" (Maiden) "My mother before me" (Mother) and "My grandmother before me" (Crone)

The new lyrics are even more confirmation that the song is a prayer from a Keeper of the Moon to Menphina

It's kind of funny how a lot of people wanted to try twisting the lyrics to somehow fit the entire plot of Endwalker instead of accepting a song about Menphina is just about Menphina. It'd be like if they tried to somehow pretend Nald'Thal's theme was somehow about Shadowbringers' plot by doing enough mental gymnastics.

Everyone has pointed out how great the violin is (and it truly is great, it elevates this song to a whole other level), but I also really love the build-up to right before the violins. There's something just escalating and escalating, and the SECOND right before the violins hit, there's that loud SNAP/CRASH sound (at 2:07 and 4:40 ), letting the floodgates loose for the beautiful chaos of the strings.

Even if they don't end up in the game, I want a song for every member of the Twelve now. For Pete's sake, Althyk is worshiped by Bards.

My mom always told me video games had too much violins, she was right!

There's genuinely so much great storytelling and worldbuilding in this song. The way the song takes us on a journey with a protagonist and gives us enough context to know what it's about, and how it all fits into the world's overarching lore. Really, really good stuff. And good for the Mooncat players, I'm sure you guys feel like the Ul'dah natives after In The Balance :p

I like the message of the official but actually find myself liking the unofficial more cause it feels more. Moony. Yknow? same with the 'Flawless Moonlight' bit,but in context of this being a Mooncat prayer to menhphina it makes sense

@bauscheusse8055 When you consider the Keepers of the Moon are a matriarchal tribal system, it makes perfect sense. Girls are considered to be the tribe's biggest pride and joy. While I can agree it's sexist, it's the lore. Males are encouraged to come around in small doses while traveling for food and more are their priorities. But even if males are made to leave the nest early, they are still heavily loved by their wives, mothers, etc. That I'd like to make very clear since love, familial or romantic, is extremely important to them as it's what Menphina stands for

If we get to meet a keeper tribe sometime in the future (meracydia expansion please square?) I’d love to hear a version of this used as a motif for them, this melody would be super fun to hear Soken mess around with

we already doo... keepers do not do "tribes" they live in close nit fanily units typically in solitary. we meet the aliapohs whom are keepers. zhloe, khloe and the hatching tide npc.

When I made my Moon Kitty way back in Stormblood I never imagined I would actually meet his goddess. Nevermind his tribe's patron goddess getting something like this certified banger for a boss theme. Honestly made me feel oddly proud.

This ones addicting af, really a pleasure to listen to.

The way Soken keeps mixing up music styles, I expect we’ll end up having a freaking Ultrakill boss theme. “Machine-ist, turn back now!”

My Miqo’te has parents from both clans. Her features are more Keeper, like her mother, but she follows Azeyma like her father. It would be a lie to say Menphina had no hand in her upbringing though.

The official lyrics are absolutely a Mooncat hymn, much like how Nald'thal is an Ul'dah hymn. As a mooncat player who has noticed the sheer disparity between suncat rep and mooncat rep among the NPCs in the game and such, I absolutely love this.

Yeah, the official lyrics make it obvious it's a song about praying to Menphina's, not a song sung from her perspective. Which aligns better with Into the Balance for Nald'Thal.

@@skeletor8951 if we are still following the pattern, Nymeia aside, Llymlaen would be the second boss of the next tier. The toss up is between Oschon or The Watcher (Fusoya). In which case we'd either get a song about Nym and Tonberries, a remixed version of a FFIV song, or something wholly new. Only time will tell.

I guess, in a way, the main song is still about Gridania. But more about one of the discriminated races in the Keepers of the Moon. Just like how In the Balance was about Ul’dah. I had always been surprised why Nophica wasn’t the final boss. Considering she was the patron deity of Gridania.

This song now holds a very special place in my heart. It was this weekend 4 years ago that I lost my dear mother, and hearing this always brings my spirits back, now more than ever. For me, this song is dedicated to her moonlight ❤️ 🌙

I think some lyrics sounding mispronounced is due to the backing vocals overlapping. "In your name" sounds like "in your midst" because of the "*songbirds*" bit in the background. Anyway though, thanks for the video.

this probably takes the cake as the single best Alliance Raid song. it is ridiculously amazing.

Something about happy upbeat music makes for the best boss themes. Lakshmi's theme also comes to mind.

I actually believe for the mostpart it's the mothers/grandmothers in the Miq'ote tribes cheering on and teaching their daughters the prayers. Since they pass the songs down through the female lineage

Yeah, to me, this song seems like it would be perfectly fitting for Sailor Moon(both the 90's version and Cyrstal) - since its title is "Dedicated to Moonlight", and it's a song for a female boss character that's also a Moon goddess along with her loyal guards...(Also, that violin is just too good, isn't it?)

I'm kinda expecting a Llymlaen song for the last part. We've had an Ul'dah boss, a Shroud (Gridania?) boss, and the deity of Limsa would be the logical choice for the last part. Another reason I want Llymlaen as the last boss is to hear what Soken would do with a sea shanty.
