The BBC should be scrapped. If we had a Referendum I believe 95% of the public would agree. Why should anybody be expected to pay for a service that is no longer required particularly paying for ‘live programmes’ from other channels. I am over 80 years of age and cannot believe that our very own Parliament agreed almost 2 decades ago that the over 75’s should no longer have to pay for a licence. How on earth can that BBC be allowed to overturn such a decision. I rarely watch TV and NEVER BBC programmes because they are of no interest to me. Like a fool as I approached my 75th Birthday, I upgraded my aerial at a cost of £360 and bought a flat screen TV set. Then without any reasonable notice the last Government allowed the BBC to overturn a decision made by Westminster. Clearly, there is no point in having a Government if they are ‘powerless’. Needless to say my TV set and aerial are redundant and as I live alone not prepared to pay for something that is unimportant to me?

Sadly, not only woudl that be teh exact tactic they will pull, its also close to accurate - There is about a 60/40 Split in the population who do consider the BBC Value for Money... And as you rightly guessed - That Question when asked is kind of "Loaded" I dont and wont pay for the TV License - I currently do not watch TV... Period! But if I were asked "Do you feel the BBC is Value for Money?" - My honest answer woudl be YES... £14 a Month... Not a big cut of my take home pay... But that's because its a LOADED QUESTION - It deliberately designed to get a Positive response! They wont say "Do you feel the BBC Management is Wasting License Payers Money" as they KNOW that 90% would say YES! They wont ask "Do you think the TV License should only cover BBC Service's including online and Freeview?" because once again... 90% woudl say YES! But they will ALWAYS ASK "Do you feel the BBC is Value for Money?" - Deliberately Loaded... The BBC as the National Broadcaster also has the Broadcast Equipment that is used by even the Commercial Channels under its remit... While this is owned and operated by the Government directly, It does mean that the Broadcast Network needs to be supported and repairs paid for... That was the original point of teh License Fee _ Not just to provide entertainment and news, but to keep the Antenna's running so that TV could be broadcast! And the vast Majority who do say the BBC is Value for Money still think that! And while it is TRUE... Even now... Despite broadcasts now being Digital... It IGNORES that SKY, VIRGIN, and many more provide their own broadcast Services! are not using the National Equipment! They They pay for their own upkeep! @@MM.-qo7pk Yes, however there is an issue with that... Even with the General Election, only 60% of eligible voters Voted... You have to have some way to get 100% to respond or at the very least 99%. Politicians always use Voter Apathy as a way to "Subvert" unwanted results - Look at Brexit - That only passed by 53% of the vote, and the turnout was only about 48% of eligible voters... It doesn't matter if you are Pro-EU or Pro-Brexit... We can all admit they tried to "Renounce the Vote" It woudl be far easier to dismiss with the TV License! So you have to find a way to make sure at the very least - 80% respond!!!

Here in AUSTRALIA we do not have a tv licence fee but the government pays for the ABC to run its programs and services, so we all pay a small amount from our tax base, more and more people I know very rarely watch free to air tv because of the enormous amount of adverts, they watch pay tv for sporting events or one of the pay tv services like NETFLIX or PRIME or DISNEY, that is the way it is going, so this lady was correct make it a subscription channel then if you do not watch it you don't bloody pay anything.Might make them wake up.

The BBC are not providing what the audience wants. Until they change, don't pay the licence.

If you stop paying your licence. You must declare you're not paying it to the BBC. Job done. This makes it harder for them to take you to court.
