Decorah Eagles- A SCARY SITUATION FOR EAGLET D32

This morning on 04.14.2019 Mom was on the nest bowl, when she got up D32 was stuck to her feathers somehow. Mom started to walk around the nest bowl and D32 was dragged and couldn't get unstuck from Mom's feathers. Mom then stopped and called out and DM2 came immediately to the nest. Mom turned around slowly and then flew off and D32 was loosened from her feathers. A very close call for little D32, but all is good in the nest now.Thank goodness!!

I remember seeing that one, I was so disappointed I didn't continue watching. It certainly doesn't follow that bigger birds have bigger brains. I've seen smaller parents accidentally push out a chick whilst arranging themselves to sit on them. They look back at the chick falling out and over, and it doesn't seem to register even though they watched it happen. I've also seen this with an egg fumbled out of the nest, they see it, but then turn away. Doesn't seem to register with the parent. Of course, there were more than a few very poorly constructed nests which were not successful in keeping everyone aboard.

It's always really sad for me, when I come across ppl who choose to instigate an argument, a pointless one that has nothing to do with the content, to get a rise out of users in comments sections on KZread... We're all here together appreciating the beauty of eagles, & some sad miserable soul walks in yelling that people have imaginary friends. I hope that person has found something way more fulfilling & warm for their spare headspace & time ❤️ Can't imagine watching something incredibly rare like this, and still feeling in the mood to argue. Then again, I personally love the amount of spirituality some lucky people feel when they connect with a part of nature that's struck them as especially amazing. 8:51 So she was prepared to let her eaglet die if it couldn't navigate to the bowl on its own power?

That poor tiny eaglet saved himself on his own free will. It's a survivor! Bad parenting! They can tear a prey apart but can't save their own baby?

Maybe a little of the prey's clotted blood stayed on his head. The eagle could have been stained with the blood when it was on the prey tearing it apart

I'm take a wild guess, but I'm sure one of them had food stuck on their body. It not mom, it was the baby who caused their feathers to stick like glue

This happened in another nest a few years ago, except for the mom eagle flew off the nest with her tangled up chick and returned without it.
